The earliest extant source that mentions Hyperborea in detail, Herodotus' Histories (Book IV, Chapters 32–36), dates from circa 450 BC. Herodotus recorded three earlier sources that supposedly mentioned the Hyperboreans, including Hesiod and Homer, the latter purportedly having written of Hyperborea in his lost work Epigoni. Homer's provenance to the epic is suspect by Herodotus.

Many modern day Russian nationalists, such as Alexander Dugin, have claimed Russia to be the home of Hyperborea (oh my science is that a heckin TNO reference???)

Contrary to popular belief, the hyperborea myth has nothing to do with racism. The nazi party didn't care neither knew about hyperborea. Only since spergs on the internet decided that it should be about race when it actually became an alt-right meme. THOUGHEVER those who think hyperborea is racist may actually be confused with another similar Greek myth called "Thule" (pronounced "Too-Lee") which was popular in the Third Reich because they wanted to imagine an "origin" place for the "aryans", and due to aryans born-place in the pontic-steppe located between modern-day Russia and Ukraine, since Hitler didn't like slavs, they decided to consider Thule instead. They even formed an organization called The Thule Society to try and uncover more info about the ancient indo-europeans.
