And this is (You) after fucking up and getting caught by the horde, which will inevitably happen, assuming you don't fuck off to another save because you got bored.

Project Zomboid, often shortened to PZ, is an isometric survival-sandbox RPG zombie game. The main "plot" is that a virus, which was named the Knox Infection/Virus, is a disease that turns the infected.... into le ZOMBIES!!!! SCARY!!!!! The disease, does in fact cause le zombies, and you have to fight/survive them. It's unique due to having retro graphics, yet not having one tranny or pooner developing it^{[even doe the chinkdevs are lazy niggers who only add 3 lines of code per week]}.

Canon Events

1. On the first of July, 1993, with phone lines being cut for "maintenance". LIES LIES IT'S ALL LIES THEY CUT THE PHONOS SO THE WORLD COULDN'T HEAR OUR SCREAMS THE MILITARY WAS IN ON IT
2. On the third of July, 1993, a military lorry hauling an unknown liquid crashes, somewhere north of March Ridge.
3. On the fourth of July, Independence Day, several attacks from dogs are reported, and Muldraugh falls ill to an unspecified disease (which may be the early Knox Virus, explaining the extreme amount of zomboids)
4. On the sixth of July, the Knox Exclusion Zone is created, due to the confirmed outbreak of a "flu-like" virus, with entry and exit being forbidden. Hazmat-clad phonos are seen entering the Exclusion Zone.
5. On the seventh of July, the President returns early from his G7 summit in Tokyo. Governor Cal Fairweather claims xe is "in the dark like everyone else" relating to the illness.
6. On the ninth of July, (You) canonically spawn in, to probably get raped by BZC.
7. On the tenth of July, concerns about the Knox Event reach Washington DC, with a failed protest marking significant public disapproval.
8. On the eleventh of July, riots break out in major metropolitan areas. The president makes a statement heavily implying that he does not know what is going on in Knox County either as a response to this. The World Health Organization demands all commercial/passenger flights be grounded; the President has a massive clitty leakage over this due to the ensuing economic crash.
9. On the twelfth of July, the riots of the previous day expand to essentially every major city in the United States. A radio-bound message from inside the zone claims that the Knox Event is significantly more dire than the military is proclaiming, the speaker being the first person to address the infected as undead, along with being the first to talk about the actual infection methods. This unknown broadcast also accuses the military of shooting people that are coming from inside the zone. A country-wide curfew is instated.
10. On the thirteenth of July, corporate-sponsored interviews (to the dismay and horror of the public), reveal stories of the infected attacking the uninfected. This is the first public display of what the unknown broadcast was claiming.
11. On the fourteenth of July, the President, leaking rivers from several countries flaming him, leaves the White House to an undisclosed location. Two phonos protesting inside the Exclusion Zone are shot, and presumably killed, by the military. This attracts a horde of the infected, said horde managing to breach the fence of the county Zone. Louisville is thrown into panic as a horde thousands-strong marches towards all that Man has built.
    On the fifteenth of July, the Knox Plague goes airborne. The Knox Event is no longer contained within the Exclusion Zone. This is the singular most impactful event within Project Zomboid's lore, due to it being the event that quite very literally destroyed the world. Infected cross the Ohio River, being spread by travelling survivors and the dead that immediately follow behind.
12. On the sixteenth of July, the United States Congress fucks off to some SNCA mountain, essentially leaving their fellow Americans for dead. Louisville is filled with the infected, most not even being bitten or physically infected, and it is presumed that the city gets BTFO'd by the newly-turned zeds.
13. From July 17 to 28, the Knox Infection slowly claims the world, with billions dying and turning by the end. It is more than safe to say that there is no recovering from this. The world has ended.
14. And (You) will reclaim it die.

Gameplay

This only accounts for standard, vanilla gameplay, as to help as many players as possible. Once you have selected your preferred gamemode, you can chose to spawn in the following towns:

• Rosewood
• Muldraugh
• Riverside
• West Point
• Echo Creek

After that, you can choose the traits and of your starting character.

It is recommended to either start as a Carpenter (for ease of construction and easier leveling), Unemployed (for the trait points), or Lumberjack/Firefighter for that sweet, succulent axe levels. Axes are abundant and are considered to be really good in damage.

Strong and Athletic are both great starting traits, for two main reasons:

1. The obvious benefits of being strong and fit, helping your character run away and fight back easier
2. You don't have to level your strength and fitness like a sperg

Some fairly good counter-traits are Conspicuous (which is mildly bothersome to outright helpful at times) and Prone To Illness (quicker turning time doesn't matter because you're fucked either way if infected with Knox).

Regardless of your choice of town, you tend to spawn in an isolated house on the edges of the city, although you can rarely spawn in trailer parks (or the Police Station, very rarely, if you chose Rosewood). Use this isolation to your advantage, close all the blinders and make sure to only go out for food and supplies when necessary. To nobody's surprise, immediately running out unprepared fighting as many zombies as possible will, in fact, turn you into a 3-course-meal for the undead.

As for zombie-fighting itself, you should only pick off a couple at a time. Any zeke grouping larger than 4 is very dangerous, due to not being able to feasibly cover them all, plus the chance of being Pulled Down, which is an instakill animation that occurs when being attacked by 4 or more zeds.

The overwhelming majority of bites are the result of either game jank, not seeing the attacking zed in question, or not being prepared. Take steps to avoid these circumstances, and you should be significantly more safe when dealing with Johnny Munch.

if you are new, you should try Rising, then Custom Sandbox with Multihit on Apocalyse settings. Some serious zomboidfags really hate multihit, but some can't play without it.

Multiplayer Gameplay

NEVER, EVER join a server without a VPN or proxy. Project Zomboid explicitly states that your IP is publicly visible.

Multiplayer gameplay usually consists of shitty roleplay, akin to Space Station 13 servers. Troons and Faggots a plenty. The PVE servers are pretty good doe.
