The term election tourist typically refers to users of 4chan who joined during or after 2016. During the election of Donald Trump it became the centre of media attention, leading to a huge wave of new users joining the site.
Oldtroons feel especially threatened by election tourists due to their autistic fear of change, as the new wave of users led to the site becoming much more politically focused. Usually they respond to anyone accused of being an election tourist (ie someone mentioning politics) by telling them "go back to /pol/" and reaffirm that 4chan is an anime website. They still consider them newfags even doe they've been on the site for over six years at this point.
