A referendum is a process for users to be able to implement new rules on the SoyBooru.[1]
Introduced by Cobblestone, it allows the userbase to submit and vote for rules changes on the SoyBooru which jannies will then have to follow. In order for a referendum to pass it has to achieve 100 or more votes, with a 75% super-majority, and adds, removes, or amends a properly formatted rule.
Proper referendum formatting[edit | edit source]
Referendums must be formatted as the example below to be considered valid:
Rule 17: No commenting or posting past midnight:
- Commenting between 2 AM - 4 AM UTC -> Delete -> 1 day -> 3 days -> 1 week -> 1 month -> Permanent
- Posting between 2 AM - 4 AM UTC -> Permanent
- Exception: Commenting or posting between 2:45 AM - 2:50 AM -> Do nothing
Referendum rules[edit | edit source]
- NO retroactive rule applications (i.e a new ban won't let you delete old posts, or ban someone for something they did before the rule)
- Referendums MUST be anonymous
- After a poll reaches 100 votes, it is closed and tallied 24 hours later
- Polls must NOT have expiry times
- If a poll fails, it has a 2 week cooldown period before it can be recreated
- If a referendum is edited after being opened, it is disqualified
List of notable passed referendums[edit | edit source]
- Ban on scat[2]
- Ban on sexualized babyjak depictions[3]
- The implementation of the SoyBooru Senate[4]
