Talk:Coal
coal article
Add coal's origin[edit source]
On older versions of this page, the fact that coal was derived from "coal miner" on /qway/ was mentioned, then contrARYANized into gem. Sudearchive has lots of instances of "coal miner" so I want some snopes on this so we can get it added. I'm a lazy SLF who won't do it. TotalNiggerDeath (talk) 02:35, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
- Anyone who was actually on /qa/ knows this is bullshit, people started saying "gem" first and THEN oppositefag'd it by saying "coal". There's no connection between "coal burner" and the "coal" rating mineral, nor was "coal" said first and then gem came after, 2023 /pol/ immigrant nusoi.

https://desuarchive.org/qa/search/text/gem/page/200/ (The use of "gem" was so frequent that it only shows the first 5000 of 23361 results, implying "gem" was used way before "coal" arrived.
https://desuarchive.org/qa/search/text/gem%20thread/page/40/ https://desuarchive.org/qa/search/text/gem%20thread/page/41/ Usage of "gem" throughout 2020 and going back to 2017 as part of an in-group slang
"Coal" was made a an opposite to this AFTER, possibly inspired by minecraft as seen in this thread: https://desuarchive.org/qa/thread/3523395/#q3523395
