Troon is a town in South Ayrshire, Scotland, United Kingdom. Contrary to the name, it actually isn't named after troons, the name in fact comes from a Brythonic or Pictish word meaning "nose" or "cape". The town also has one of the largest ports (which was a former base for P&O Ferries, DOCTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS) in West Scotland since it's located on the coast of South Ayrshire with ferries (one to a place called Brodick, geg), cargo and yacht marinas. The current population is slightly above 15000.[1]
History

In 1808 the 3rd Duke of Portland added docks to an existing natural harbour on the west coast, this prompted the creation of a port and the town grew around it because it also served a railway, being its terminal station, o algo. Some nigga with the surname Fullarton built a house there which is still standing as a historical landmark and contributed greatly to the town development. Robert II also granted the Crosbie estate to the Fullarton family.[1]
Politics

Troon is part of the Ayr Scottish parliamentary constituency. There are 4 councillors representing it in the South Ayrshire Council - 2 cuckservatives, 1 labournigger and 1 SNP member. On 18 September 2014, a referendum was held on Scottish independence from the United Kingdom. The South Ayrshire Council area voted against Scotland becoming an independent country at 58% No 42% Yes whilst Troon (which was counted with the rest of South Ayrshire) voted overwhelmingly against independence at 65% No 35% Yes. Think of it what you want.[1]
