Wikitext editors are what most experienced users use instead of the VisualEditor, which most nusois use because it's the default. The SourceEditor gives you finer control of text formatting compared to the VisualEditor, along with it allowing you to use advanced Wikitext and even some HTML. All templates are edited with with the SourceEditor.
The 5 wikitext editors are:
- 2010 wikitext editor - this is the default option upon clicking "edit source".
- 2017 wikitext editor - this one uses the same interface as the visual editor but with wikitext instead of WYSIWYG.
- 2006 wikitext toolbar - a basic text macro bar. Deprecated, moved to a userscript here.
- None - When you have JavaScript disabled (or both the 10/17 editors disabled in your settings) a simple textbox is shown without any buttons.
- wikiEd - Advanced wikitext editor that goes on top of the textbox / 2010 editor.
