Quotesink (or soyquote sink) is a phenomenon on /soy/ where the majority of soyquote threads end up being concentrated in the center of the catalog, while a bunch quote-less threads stay just above them on the first few pages.

This can be seen at first-hand by any Soyteen by opening the catalog and doing a Ctrl+F for ">", then looking at the highlights on the scrollbar that indicate where on the catty the highest density of arrows can be found.

Types

There are so far 3 different types of quotesink with a name. The first kind is quoterows, where soyquotes form one solid or partially divided line on the catalog, quotejumble where 'quotes form an irregular shape, and quotescatter where 'quotes are scattered across a few pages in no specific shape.

Causes

What causes quotesink exactly is unknown, but it's most likely the fact that coal such as bait, meta threads, blogposts, and datamining threads simply receive more engagement and therefore more bumps on the catty.

Solutions

• Use /jak/.
• Create soyquote threads that will get a good amount of replies.
• Make a high effort 'quote thread, since they will usually be necrobumped for hours by 'teens who appreciate gems.
