Rulescucking, sometimes called "Ban everything I don't like mentality" or as rulesGODDING by supporters, is an approach of imageboards moderation that involves significantly expanding the rules, usually banning not just something that is considered immoral or bad, but also bad posts in general, typically with the goal of improving the quality of posts. Opinions among 'teens on this topic are extremely divided; some believe that this approach leads to a loss of the original, free spirit of imageboards, while others believe it is necessary to keep the quality of posts at at least some acceptable level. However, as the nusoi population of the Sharty grows, Rulescucking from marginal opinion becomes more and more acceptable[1], as newfags are the group most supportive of this approach.

Arguments of supporters

[edit | edit source]

The main argument in support of Rulescuck is improvement in post's quality. During late Quote, and now Salt, you can find more bait than normal posts due to nusois's irresistible urge to reply and bump them. Supporters claim that this issue would be solved by simply deleting such posts or/and banning their authors. Low-quality posts are bad not only due to shitty 'log, but also normalization of 'cords, faggotry, trannies, and pooners, as some of the bait posters are unironically part of those groups.

Arguments of detractors

[edit | edit source]

Detractors argue that this approach has many issues, or is flawed in its very core. Some state that Rulescuck is contradictory to imageboards very spirit, which were always meant to have minimal rules, giving its users freedom in speech. Others say that the problem is in enforcement - There is no fool-proof way to decide which posts are bad, and which aren't, thus leaving this decision to janitors. This can lead to normal posts being deleted, due to janntors's stupidity, selfishness or leakage.
