August 25 - SoyBooru was deleted after user Soyak (Lolkek) requested ownership of the Booru on its forum section due to the inactive moderation and consequent spam.[2] After the forum post went unnoticed, he then emailed booru.org staff at the suggestion of another chud. Unfortunately, this brought the issue to the attention of booru.org admin “Mr K.,” who promptly deleted the entire Booru and, with it, over a year of hard work and 'jak history from many dedicated archivists, because of about a dozen pornographic images and fewer than ten low‑resolution gore images, which were, as he put it, “too much to reasonably remove.”[3] Around 700 'jaks were turned into lost media soyjaks, although a chud was able to upload an incomplete archive of SoyBooru's images to soyjak.download.[4] However, a new booru had been made public two days prior after the original was spammed.[5]
September 6 - In an impromptu Q&A in a Sootbait thread on /soy/, Soot revealed that OnionsBooru's owner (whose username on the Booru is “lolkekkeklmaolmaolmaoxdhaha”) had transferred ownership to him.[6] He further said that the Booru would be moved to his “own domain.”[7] On September 7 2021, the Booru was released to the public once again at https://booru.soy (the old link soyak.win was made to redirect to the new link) in a pinned post on /soy/.[8] OnionsBooru's former owner, who remained a moderator, changed the “Featured Post” to a CIAjak to commemorate Soot's takeover.[9] It has since been changed to a different 'jak.[10] For the duration of the Booru's time on its old domain, the Featured Post remained the Swedish "first soyjak".[11]
January 14 - soyjak.party was shut down by the hosting provider due to CSAM reports. This resulted in many users going to the booru and spamming it with unrelated NAS images.[12] A few hours later, soyjak.party went back up and all the NAS spam was deleted.
January 15 - A day later, the entire booru was wiped except for one Chudjak image.[13] The reason why or how this happened is unknown. This resulted in SuBooru becoming the main booru for soyjaks, until the latter shut down in March 26, 2022.
December 4 - SoyBooru later closed again on December 4, 2022 due to a large vandalism attack. This closure was prolonged due to the admin not having too much time to work on it. SoyBooru reopened, along with some infrastructure upgrades, on December 10, 2022.

Later, all posts with Cobson were restored, the logo was changed to a smiling Cobson, and the counter was replaced by four images of Cobson with a large gape. It was renamed to CobsonBooru everywhere, except on the frontpage under the logo, where the previous name remained
Then it came back to it's normal state, but shortly after that, these Cobby changes were reverted. Lolkek made another post with the same tranime picture and comments that he had a full backup of the site shortly before he nuked it.[26]
Shortly afterwards, the site was entrusted to Angeleno, and he took over the site. Everything after July 27th was lost, due to lolkek ghosting Angeleno's requests for the data.
August 17 - the booru was wiped AGAIN by Lolkek on an alt with the same tranime image, but this time with the caption:

The person who discovered this exploit used it to inject javascript that applied a 4chan theme to the site.[62] The site was taken offline within a few minutes and came back up 3 hours later with the exploit patched.
April 30 - Warrior-Z braps up a 'booru comment section so hard that it breaks and exceeds the comment limit. This resulted in Soysneed having to reset the site and reprogram it to support longer comment sections.[63]
May 7 - On May 7, 2025, 9a0c announced that the Booru was "broken",[65] with the site going down. A looped 'ru refugee thread was created in /qa/.[66]Even though it could have been a coverup for an unknown agency taking over the site.
