>Soyquoting

Soyquoting, otherwise known as you look like this and say this, is one of the core tenets of 'jakking and soydueling. By using an arrow, and selecting a 'jak from your 'jak folder, you can attempt to make the appearance of your chosen quotee. If you choose a potent and relevant 'jak, you may convince others that he does indeed look like your 'jak. Entire soy duels occur to determine who really looks like this. If a Chud forgets an arrow, then he looks like the 'jak he's posting and you can tell xim "no arrow."

You look like this and say this is also a secondary characteristic of a Soyjak. Typically, NAS cannot be used successfully in this manner, while IAS can. For example, you can't really soyquote with a wojak. It also constitutes an instant fail within soyduels.

The art of soyquoting was invented by Chad.
Types of soyquotes
[edit | edit source]

Single arrow
[edit | edit source]Sometimes, you might want to say something with a 'jak attached, but you don't want to look like that. In this case, you can insert a single arrow (>) with no content on a separate line. This quotes your image as saying nothing, letting you say whatever.

Multiarrow
[edit | edit source]When you want to soyquote or comment on something that has been quoted beforehand, you can add another arrow to your quote (>>). This way you are referring to a quote instead of repeating it. This can be done many times (>>>>>Nobody says this or looks like this) and is typically seen in long threads.
Differently colored arrows
[edit | edit source]<Orange arrows and ^Light blue arrows can be used for stylisation. Below are two notable[because I say so] examples:

Dialogue - starts with a standard quote arrow, and then uses others to denote multiple subjects in a conversation. Used to model a possible Soysphere related conversation or satirise behaviour of people the poster doesn't like.

Comparison - begins with a statement or opinion of the poster and is then followed by an inferior or opposing view. Colours can be interchangeable, the general rule is to show the poster's opinion in comparison to the quotee's or something.
Speech Bubbles
[edit | edit source]
Don't trust any tweet you see. Add a community note to every revision in this page's history to make the oldfags mald.GET A CHANCE TO GO TO OHIOOOOO
Speech bubbles also stem from the phenomenon. The image below you is saying what you say, therefore you look like this and say this. Speech bubble spam is a frequent sight on the 'ru. There were also astroturfed speech bubble wars between countries, but it was so fiesty and erotic it got banned[it just is, ok?]. Speech bubble spam is also a frequent sight across Discord even doe it just implies that the speech bubble is saying the poster's name and timestamp, as they can't into proper soyquoting/dueling because Discord users are retarded trannies. These two facts are not related in any way whatsoever.
Sideways speech bubbles that point to the quote or text have existed for years on imageboards, most agree that they are not a form of soyquoting.
Quotation Marks
[edit | edit source]You say this.
^fail quote
Self Insert Syndrome
[edit | edit source]
Main article: Self-insert syndrome
You want to look like whatever 'jak you post. Common with Neutralplier bloggers.
Disrespecting The Arrow
[edit | edit source]If you remember the arrow, and your quotee tells you "Nice selfie" they are a coaler of the blackest order. Kill him on sight.
