>This probably isn't an announcement I ever expected to make especially now, but after thinking about everything that has happened over the past several days, I've decided that I am going to step down as head administrator of the Soyjak Wiki as of right now and leave the 'sphere.
>As most of you probably already know, ownership of the Sharty and its related infrastructure was recently transferred to a new owner. The problem for me isn't simply that ownership changed. It's that those of us responsible for maintaining the other sites were basically left completely out of the loop about what was happening or what the plan was for us afterward.
>Since the transfer, I've tried basically every method available to me to get in contact with either Quote or the new owner and figure out what is supposed to happen with the wiki. I especially wanted to know whether the wiki would continue receiving server-level support and who I was actually supposed to work with whenever something required access beyond MediaWiki itself. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get a clear answer. All I know is that by messaging the new owner, if Salt does not take the other sites by September, the wiki, irc, and booru will be most likely JSID as they are only payed off until then. I heard this from the nu owner of the sharty himself, but unfortunately I was not able to get that much more information about of him. I am truly very sorry about this, I dont mean to make people worry as I was planing on hold off on it for at least a couple of more days to work something out, but my hand has been forced. However hope may not be lost, as Cobblestone himself might be given ownership of it if Salt does not take it after all. Thats why for me, I am still neutral with Salt but dont partically like him, if you get what I mean. I was really upset about that possiblity.
>That's a pretty serious problem for me as the wiki's head admin. There were quite a few things I wanted to do with the 'ki that required server access, including installing and maintaining extensions and making larger technical improvements. That was ultimately my plan as the admin. There is only so much I can realistically do when I have no access to the underlying server and seemingly no reliable way of contacting the person who does. Especially if that person does not want to work with me
>I don't want this announcement to be taken as me saying that the wiki is about to disappear. As far as I know, the wiki itself is still running normally, and the staff can continue keeping it going for as long as the infrastructure remains available. There are also alternatives that could be explored if something does eventually happens to the current hosting or domain. I sincerely hope the wiki continues long after I leave.
>But personally, I don't think I can continue putting this much time into administrating and developing a site when I don't know whether its owner actually intends to support it. The 'ki is genuinely important to me, which is exactly why this whole situation has bothered me so much. I would rather step away than slowly watch myself become an administrator in name only, unable to do many of the things I took the position to do.
>I also don't want this to come across as an attack on anyone. There is still a lot about the ownership transfer that I simply don't know, and I'm not going to pretend that my suspicions about what happened are established facts. I just wish the people actually maintaining the wiki and booru had been told what was happening and given some idea of what the future of those sites was supposed to be.
>Despite how this is ending, I don't regret any of the time I spent here. I will be giving back control of the wiki back to Cobblestone for the reminder that this wiki exists.
>I had tons of fun on the Sharty and especially on the wiki. In fact it is the most fun I likely ever had. Going from a nobody by screwing around with MediaWiki to eventually becoming its head administrator was something I never expected to happen, and I'm genuinely grateful that I got the opportunity to do it.
>I was not a admin for long, but I wanted to thank Quote and Mustard for the opportunities and trust you gave me over the months. Honestly, I am still don't know why he just vanished from the party like whoosh, but I am sure he had his reasons. Whatever happens from here, you guys will always be gems to me. And thank you especially to everyone on the wiki who worked alongside me, helped with projects, reported problems, argued with me about dumb policy changes, or simply made editing the place fun.
>I also want to thank the current wiki staff. Please keep taking care of the place. There are a lot of people who have put an absurd amount of time into the wiki, and it deserves to keep going regardless of who happens to be sitting in the administrator seat.
>I don't know what the future of the 'sphere looks like from here. Maybe everything gets sorted out and this whole mess ends up looking ridiculous in hindsight. I genuinely hope that's what happens. But I've reached the point where I don't want to keep waiting indefinitely for answers that may never come.
