The Soyjak Wiki has received a new namespace: Namefag. This namespace is for users to write articles on namefags who are otherwise not notable enough to have a mainspace article, and has a few guidelines to ensure articles remain informative with a reasonable standard of quality.

The criteria for whether a namefag should have a mainspace article or an article here are not clear because they are very hard to quantify, and this must be handled on a case-by-case basis. In general, namefags qualify for the main namespace if they:

  • Already had an established mainspace article before the creation of this namespace.
  • Played a substantial role in the creation or popularization of a meme, event, variant, trend, community, or soysphere website.
  • Held a significant administrative, cultural, or historical role within the soysphere.
  • Have enough independently documented history to justify a full article.

If a namefag isn't deemed notable, their article should exist on this namespace.

Guidelines[edit | edit source]

  • The namespace is not a dumping ground. Articles must contain a meaningful amount of organized, relevant, and verifiable information. Very short pages, pages consisting mainly of insults, or pages with little more than a username and a few claims may be redirected, moved to a draft, or deleted.
  • A standalone page must be justified. If there is not enough meaningful information for a proper article, one should not be created merely because the subject is a recognizable namefag.
  • The namespace remains subject to all wiki rules. Its purpose is to permit greater editorial flexibility, not to create an area exempt from moderation or quality standards.
  • Articles should rely on documented activity. Claims should be supported where practical by edits, posts, archived discussions, logs, screenshots, or other reliable records. Rumors and unsupported accusations should not be presented as fact
  • Users may create pages on themselves. A user may create a page on themselves, but will have to go through harsher quality control, that is, if you want to write a page on yourself, at least let it be a complete and good page. Also, users can still not contest anything on their page (edit war).
  • The namespace is not for failtroll documentation. A distinction should be made between a genuine namefag who later became controversial and an account known only for spam, illegal material, animal abuse, shock content, or similar behavior.
  • Placement can change over time. A Namefag article can be promoted to the main namespace if the subject later becomes sufficiently notable.
