Filename

This article is not a stub. This is all there is to know about the subject.

A filename is the unique name given to a file in a computer's file system to identify and distinguish it from other files. It typically consists of a name and an extension, separated by a dot. On the sharty, files get uploaded with their original filename (unless you enable strip filenames), giving other people an idea of what kind of person (You) might be.

Typical filenames and their meaning[edit | edit source]

  • ClipboardImage.png → The image was pasted from the user's clipboard. Usually means that whoever you're soydueling doesn't have a soyfolder and instead looks for soyjaks on the 'ru or is copying them from his folder.
  • XXXX - SoyBooru.png - [tag, tag, tag, etc.] → The image was downloaded straight from the 'ru. Similar to last case, except now the user is actively constructing his soyfolder or is too lazy to download anything.
  • IMG_XXXX.png → The default filename for images downloaded on iPhone devices. You can sometimes get called an iToddler if you upload anything with this.
  • RDT_XXXXXXXXX.pngLiteral redditor. Hide and report.
  • 1Ϫ452350002169806Ϫ7p.png → The default filename for any image downloaded from the sharty. It consists of a unix timestamp (in seconds) + 3 random numbers + a random letter. Enabling the "strip filenames" setting will make all uploads default to this format.
  • 1767388726256158.png → Default filename for images downloaded off of 4chan. It's just a unix timestamp.
  • [descriptive filename].pngThe filename describes the contents of the uploaded image. They make it easier to search for appropriate 'jaks on your soyfolder, making soyduel response times a hell of a lot quicker.
  • klsdhfgopqwerhgkljdh.png → VNBQTHERED gigachad. Filenames like these tend to be used when someone's saving something and needs to rename them for whatever reason (either due to a default "Untitled" filename or something else) but doesn't feel like giving them a descriptive filename
