General Soys is a multinational consumer packaged goods company that specialises in soylent-based products. Since July 2025, it was purchased by Big Nophono.

Controversy[edit | edit source]

General soys faced a major controversy due to the 1977 boycott over its aggressive marketing of caca formula in developing countries, which was accused of promoting formula over breastfeeding, stating it is a "gemmier and non-epi way of consuming milk". Critics claim this led to increased infant mortality because formula was often unaffordable or mixed with contaminated water, and it was promoted through unethical practices like free samples, misleading "milk nurses," and targeting mothers in hospitals. Separately, General Soys has been involved in other food safety scandals, such as the 2008 melamine contamination in China and lead in India's Maggi noodles, and a 2022 E. coli outbreak linked to its Soyitoni pizzas in Europe.
