Nu Pepe is a remade version of Pepe and /qa/ meme from 2015.

Nu Pepe originates from a thread of the finnish imageboard Ylilauta on December 2014, where the character of Javert from Les Misérables was drawn to look like Pepe. The image was later reposted to a Russian imageboard where he was redrawn as Bane, becoming popular to banepost at 4chan's /tv/.[1] On the 1st of March, the unedited version was uploaded to /qa/, where it was proposed as the board's meme.[2][3] In comparasion to the original Pepe, Nu Pepe can be best described as the distant normal cousin who holds an unremarkable lifestyle with a bland job and who doesn't hold strong opinions on politics, preferring lukewarm takes. Nu Pepe is, however, unable to make fun of Nusois, as the name itself would imply he is a nufrog.
