Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning is a free unity game created by ChristARYAN chud Micah "Mystman12" McGonigal for a game jam event with the theme of "meta", with it earning 2nd place. It had received updates until it's definitive release "Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered" as well its paid sequel "Baldi's Basics Plus" which is undergoing active development everyday and many of the fantastic concepts proposed during its kickstarter (including random map generation, minigames, events, etc.) have already been added to the game unlike some other games i could mention..
The game is a parody of poorly-made 90s educational games for PCs. Baldi's Basics Plus is NOT indieslop NOR is it mascot horror as the game is being developed by mostly a single individual in the go and accurately identifies itself only to have "mild horror elements" in the disclaimer when booting it up.
The following is a bunch of SNCA but it is the reason that one should not consider it to be mascot horror: In Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered, a character named "Null"(formerly named "Filename2") can be found in the school by reaching certain criteria to enter secret areas. He is designed to be the embodiment of edgy secret creepypasta analog horror and is the canon reason for some of the game's major "horror elements" and by activating a secret game mode and defeating him in a boss battle the game will permanently disable all appearances of "Null" as well as most of the other horrorslop elements that are inferred to have been created by him, essentially "curing" the game and reverting it into a "stealthy resource management maze game with an edutainment inspired art style". Baldi's Basics Plus canonically is not infected by "Null" by default, therefore not making it have any canon reason to be scary other than "99" which is theorized to be a character that is the cause for all of the game's remaining mild horror elements, and is likely the thing that Null tried to warn the player about.
The franchise is also not adored by that many troons despite having some elements that meet troonslop critera. This is mostly due to its general fade into obscurity after its initial spike in popularity as well as the vast majority of its trooner fans moving onto Faggot-mental Pooner Execution in 2024 which is abysmal dogshit that helped ruin a great song from many childhoods, but essentially deported most of the troons out of the Baldi fandom for the year. However, ever since FPE got cancelled, they have gone back to Baldi and make allowedtowatchspongebobslop brimstone like Spongebob's Basics and Baldi in Gumball. (xhey still sadly exist within gamebanana too). If enough soyteens become Baldi fans we can take back that void in the playerbase for ourselves to learn and it can become a Gem.
There is also a sharty mod for Baldi's Basics, Jartycuck's Basics In Coal 'n Gooning 2 'p.
Gameplay and tips[edit | edit source]
General strategy[edit | edit source]
(Baldi's Basics Classic/Classic Remastered)
At the start of the game, Baldi appears, greeting the player. As the player goes to a classroom to collect the first Notebook, a You an Think Pad showing a set of three math problems presented by Baldi will appear on the screen. In the first set of math problems, everything is normal. However, when the player obtains the second notebook, the third and final question is replaced by an unintelligible string of numbers, and Baldi's voice will become glitched when reading out the question. This question has no correct answer and replaces all final questions from the second notebook onward.
When the player gets their first math problem wrong, Baldi will chase the player by slapping his ruler and moving towards you. At this point, the other characters will appear, indicating that "Spoop mode" has been activated. The more math problems the player answers incorrectly, the faster Baldi will move.
Once the player finds all 7 notebooks, Baldi will seem to congratulate the player before Null interrupts him, saying "GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!" (although after defeating Null he says "... find a way out before I catch you! Heh heh heh!" instead of screaming). Baldi will now be moving at his fastest as there are no more notebooks, which means there are no more questions to get wrong. Now the player must find four exits in any order. Once the player finds one of the exits, everything will become red, (except characters, items, and sprites) and the exit the player just tried to enter will become a solid wall. An ambience will be heard in the background, which loops one time and then starts increasing in pitch, getting higher and higher in pitch. Staying for a bit too long will make the ambience just sound like an alarm. The player has to visit three of the exits, which are all fake, while trying to avoid Baldi. The last and fourth exit the player reaches will be the real one that the player can go through and escape.
Characters[edit | edit source]
The game has an number of characters each with unique behavior designed to hinder the player (or occasionally help them).
- Baldi - The main character of the game, aside from the player. He guides the player through the tutorial and other minigames as well as being the seeker in his game of "Hide and Seek" in Plus, but acts more irritable in Classic where he functions more as an antagonist. His speed increases with each math problem the player gets wrong in Classic/Remastered, and with every notebook collected in Plus, and he becomes nearly impossible to outrun after only a couple notebooks, requiring the player to make use of items and other characters to keep him at bay.
- Principal of the Thing – Roams the halls and punishes the player for breaking rules (running, entering faculty rooms, etc.) by sending them to detention, leaving them vulnerable to Baldi. Can be countered by using the principals key item.
- Playtime – A cheerful girl who forces the player to jump rope when encountered, wasting time and slowing progress. Can be countered with safety scissors item.
- 1st Prize – A large robot that pushes the player around when it collides with them. This can be helpful for gaining distance from Baldi but can also push the player into danger.
- Gotta Sweep – A broom that sweeps through the hallways periodically, pushing characters and items along with it.
- Arts and Crafters – A shy sock-puppet creature that teleports Baldi directly to the player's location if stared at too long after collecting 7 notebooks.
- It's a Bully – Blocks hallways and demands items as "tribute" before letting the player pass. However, bully can be sent to detention by Principal.
- Cloudy Copter - A friendly helicopter fan character who BRAPS gusts of wind down hallways when activated. This wind pushes player forward or backward depending on their position and movement direction. This also pushes other characters such as Baldi.
- Beans - A gum-chewing character who blows bubble gum at that player when he sees you. If hit, the player or enemy is slowed temporarily.
- Mrs. Pomp – A character who invites the player to class. If ignored, she will quickly drag your sorry Jarty cuck ass to her classroom while having an mental breakdown screaming at inhuman levels and forcing the player to wait, wasting valuable time. This also has the unfortunate effect of altering Baldi to your exact location.
- Chalkles - A chalk like character that only spawns on blank chalkboards. Once activated it will lock you in the classroom and alerting Baldi. Other characters can enter while activated.
- The Test - A weird humanoid character with a lightbulb shaped head that can blind you for 2 minutes. He can only move when you are not looking at him. He has other strange properties like slowing down time when looking at him.
- Dr. Reflex - a claymation doctor character that will occasionally run up to the player to "test your reflexes" by holding up a green and red circle. Clicking on the green circle fast enough makes him leave but taking too long makes you do it again. Clicking the red circle makes him REALLY MAD and he will go on a rampage smashing everyone with a hammer, making their sprite appear shortened. If the player gets squished they are temporarily unable to reach items on tables, and squishing Baldi will temporarily neutralize him.
- Johnny - Johnny apparently has a benevolent personality, greeting the player upon seeing them, and offering items in exchange for the game's currency. He seems to have a grim sense of humor, as he talks about not starving if the player buys something. He will also frown if the player buys nothing or tries to buy something without enough You Thought Points.
- NULL/Filename2 - NULL is a character exclusive to Classic/Remastered. He is a mysterious anomaly that appears in Baldi's Office once you manage to beat the game after getting all answers wrong, as well as other hard to reach areas. Null does fourth wall breaks, feeling obviously aware of why or how he is in the game. He claims that he is corrupted for classified reasons, in reference to his voice being glitched: His voice from Baldi's Basics Classic sounds as if he is speaking through a radio, and interrupted with loud beeps every few seconds. In Birthday Bash, his glitched-up voice may have gotten worse, inferred from the fact that he coughs a lot, the radio-like static's quality lowered, and a lot of now-even louder electronic noises playing randomly on quick occasions, making his voice much harder to understand, including the fact that his v̸̬̞͌͠ơ̷͚̼̎͛̃̓̾̂̓͗͋͂̕͝i̵̢̜̖͆̈͂̈́̀́̏͘͝͝͝͠ç̴̢̻̖̰̗͎̲͇͓̞̤͚̜͎͋ȅ̵̢̱̞̻͚͖̯̪͈̩̙͇̜̜͎̕ ̸̢̡̨̖͍̦̙̤̙͕̺̰̺̀̋̈́̃̒͑̐͜s̷̡͓̰͉̻̗͍̃̿̽͂̄̃̀̑̓̓̆͜e̷̢̢͙̻̞̣̠͉̣̹͎̿̃̇́͂̈́̍̒̀ͅę̸̢̛̛̗͍̱͍̳̫̠̯͓̲̤̗̜̐͑̈̇̀̏̍̀̚͠m̸̢̢͍̫͙̣̦͕͉̞̳̠̬͋̏̒̇̀͌̾̒̍̾̍̍̈́̚̚͠ş̶̛̖̤͇̞̠̤̣͉͖̺̠̫͎̾̾́̓̐̀͋̈́̋̊͌̃̔̈͜͠͝ͅ ̷̨̧̟͈̟̥͙̯̜͈͙͈̰̍̑̌t̴͕̖͔͔̹̙̭̀̔́̽́̈́̀̅ǫ̵̨̙̫̙͕͖̲̏͑̑̊̆̽́͗̈́̈́͆̀͜͝ͅ ̶̖̻̮͖̲̻̪͖̥̪͓̥͓̣̓̐̿͗́̊̐͜͝h̴̝̟̦̻̺̺̹͚̥̟́̓̋̔̆͊̓̉̑̇̆ą̸̣̯͖̘̹͍̹͖͎͓̙̫̗̖̆̈̿́̀̒̂͊͐̏̓͠͝ͅͅv̶̅̎́̕ͅę̴̛̻̜͔̙̩͕̫̯͔͈̎̒͛̓̀̅̐͠ ̸̡̳̯̭͇̟̲͉̺̲̭̈́̒̒̀́̌͌̅̀̽̍̔͋̈́͘͘g̴̱̞̟͚̻̗͕͈͇̜̫͖͎̘͚̈̇̈́̀̇̋͋̒͂̑̑͒̚͠ǫ̵̛̝̫̻̭̩̤̦̮̱̈́͗̅̂̇̏̑̽͛̏́͛́̑͝t̴͔̙̼͈͈̠̿̊́͂̐̂̑̇͂̍̋͝t̷̨̟̱͍͇̞̤̘̯̼͚̘̰͚̊̍̅̎̅̓͜͜͠ê̶̛̳̣̺͓̳̯̏̋̽́̈́̅̕͝͝͝͝͠n̷͎͓͗̄̍̊͛̓̕ ̷͔͗̋̊͂̑͝l̴̪̝̜̯͎̝̲̗͕̺̹̙̘̘̄̈́̌̈̂̂̄̓̄̇̊̆̈͘͘͜͝͠o̸̩̣̼͚͈̮̰͇̳̙̖̞̞̎͛̇͊͠͝ų̶̧̖̳̯̣̭̼̗̲̲͈͓̥̬̼͖̊̓̍̋͘͝ď̶͈͂̏̏̓̈̅͊̀͗̕ḝ̸͈̹̥͉̩̻̱̩̹͍̪̦̖̹̘̆̋̒̏͆̒̈́͆͋̀̒͗͂́̍͜͝r̸̨̛̙̩͚͙̟̤͙͓̆̇̀ͅ.̸̢̭̳̞̊̊͝ DESTROY THE ኒ̵̡̼̙̹̞̠̅̔̓͌́̚͝ͅጋ̶̧͉̠̼̦̘͓̗̱̺̤͚̺̉̈̓͐̈́̾̈̔̓̒͘̚͠ኒ̸̧̩̦͔̠̟̾̊͋͝͝ጋ̶̡̛̥̉̔̎͒̇̏̀͌̏̎̕ኒ̴̛̰͉̦̺̭͑̅̅̐͌̀̈̈́̐̏̅̚͠ጋ̴̢̨̬̹̩͙̘̬̜̰̖͖͙̈́̑̇̊̾͛̋͊͘͝͠ኒ̷̨͕̺̠̞̞̲͈͖̗͚̪͇̣̙̻̓̐̽̆̽͒̀̀̍̚͜ጋ̶̢̧̨̜̞̫̞̱͍̻͖̞͔̟͑̂̀ኒ̷̛̰͇̠̣̙̜̞͍̥̓̈̐̂̉͂̀́̈̃͠͠ጋ̷̨̙͖͇͚̙͙͙̠̗͍́̿̐́̓̌͒͗̃͑͝ኒ̵̧̨̡̠̰̭̞̹̬̠͇̜̻͓̗͇̟̅̐̓̄͐͂̀̿̔̕ጋ̶̙͈̻̤̞̈́̀̑͂͐͑̌́͜͜ኒ̵̡̡̛͇̣̣̬͓͕͇̥̬̳̟̤̝͓̻̔͊̇̔̀̾͛ጋ̸̬̖̥̱͎̜͙͌̄͊̍͋͛̿̔́͊̇̕͘͝͠ GAME AND DELETE THIS ኒ̵̡̼̙̹̞̠̅̔̓͌́̚͝ͅጋ̶̧͉̠̼̦̘͓̗̱̺̤͚̺̉̈̓͐̈́̾̈̔̓̒͘̚͠ኒ̸̧̩̦͔̠̟̾̊͋͝͝ጋ̶̡̛̥̉̔̎͒̇̏̀͌̏̎̕ኒ̴̛̰͉̦̺̭͑̅̅̐͌̀̈̈́̐̏̅̚͠ጋ̴̢̨̬̹̩͙̘̬̜̰̖͖͙̈́̑̇̊̾͛̋͊͘͝͠ኒ̷̨͕̺̠̞̞̲͈͖̗͚̪͇̣̙̻̓̐̽̆̽͒̀̀̍̚͜ጋ̶̢̧̨̜̞̫̞̱͍̻͖̞͔̟͑̂̀ኒ̷̛̰͇̠̣̙̜̞͍̥̓̈̐̂̉͂̀́̈̃͠͠ጋ̷̨̙͖͇͚̙͙͙̠̗͍́̿̐́̓̌͒͗̃͑͝ኒ̵̧̨̡̠̰̭̞̹̬̠͇̜̻͓̗͇̟̅̐̓̄͐͂̀̿̔̕ጋ̶̙͈̻̤̞̈́̀̑͂͐͑̌́͜͜ኒ̵̡̡̛͇̣̣̬͓͕͇̥̬̳̟̤̝͓̻̔͊̇̔̀̾͛ጋ̸̬̖̥̱͎̜͙͌̄͊̍͋͛̿̔́͊̇̕͘͝͠ PAGE NOW, ኒ̵̡̼̙̹̞̠̅̔̓͌́̚͝ͅጋ̶̧͉̠̼̦̘͓̗̱̺̤͚̺̉̈̓͐̈́̾̈̔̓̒͘̚͠ኒ̸̧̩̦͔̠̟̾̊͋͝͝ጋ̶̡̛̥̉̔̎͒̇̏̀͌̏̎̕ኒ̴̛̰͉̦̺̭͑̅̅̐͌̀̈̈́̐̏̅̚͠ጋ̴̢̨̬̹̩͙̘̬̜̰̖͖͙̈́̑̇̊̾͛̋͊͘͝͠ኒ̷̨͕̺̠̞̞̲͈͖̗͚̪͇̣̙̻̓̐̽̆̽͒̀̀̍̚͜ጋ̶̢̧̨̜̞̫̞̱͍̻͖̞͔̟͑̂̀ኒ̷̛̰͇̠̣̙̜̞͍̥̓̈̐̂̉͂̀́̈̃͠͠ጋ̷̨̙͖͇͚̙͙͙̠̗͍́̿̐́̓̌͒͗̃͑͝ኒ̵̧̨̡̠̰̭̞̹̬̠͇̜̻͓̗͇̟̅̐̓̄͐͂̀̿̔̕ጋ̶̙͈̻̤̞̈́̀̑͂͐͑̌́͜͜ኒ̵̡̡̛͇̣̣̬͓͕͇̥̬̳̟̤̝͓̻̔͊̇̔̀̾͛ጋ̸̬̖̥̱͎̜͙͌̄͊̍͋͛̿̔́͊̇̕͘͝͠ YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOUኒ̵̡̼̙̹̞̠̅̔̓͌́̚͝ͅጋ̶̧͉̠̼̦̘͓̗̱̺̤͚̺̉̈̓͐̈́̾̈̔̓̒͘̚͠ኒ̸̧̩̦͔̠̟̾̊͋͝͝ጋ̶̡̛̥̉̔̎͒̇̏̀͌̏̎̕ኒ̴̛̰͉̦̺̭͑̅̅̐͌̀̈̈́̐̏̅̚͠ጋ̴̢̨̬̹̩͙̘̬̜̰̖͖͙̈́̑̇̊̾͛̋͊͘͝͠ኒ̷̨͕̺̠̞̞̲͈͖̗͚̪͇̣̙̻̓̐̽̆̽͒̀̀̍̚͜ጋ̶̢̧̨̜̞̫̞̱͍̻͖̞͔̟͑̂̀ኒ̷̛̰͇̠̣̙̜̞͍̥̓̈̐̂̉͂̀́̈̃͠͠ጋ̷̨̙͖͇͚̙͙͙̠̗͍́̿̐́̓̌͒͗̃͑͝ኒ̵̧̨̡̠̰̭̞̹̬̠͇̜̻͓̗͇̟̅̐̓̄͐͂̀̿̔̕ጋ̶̙͈̻̤̞̈́̀̑͂͐͑̌́͜͜ኒ̵̡̡̛͇̣̣̬͓͕͇̥̬̳̟̤̝͓̻̔͊̇̔̀̾͛ጋ̸̬̖̥̱͎̜͙͌̄͊̍͋͛̿̔́͊̇̕͘͝͠ኒ̵̡̼̙̹̞̠̅̔̓͌́̚͝ͅጋ̶̧͉̠̼̦̘͓̗̱̺̤͚̺̉̈̓͐̈́̾̈̔̓̒͘̚͠ኒ̸̧̩̦͔̠̟̾̊͋͝͝ጋ̶̡̛̥̉̔̎͒̇̏̀͌̏̎̕ኒ̴̛̰͉̦̺̭͑̅̅̐͌̀̈̈́̐̏̅̚͠ጋ̴̢̨̬̹̩͙̘̬̜̰̖͖͙̈́̑̇̊̾͛̋͊͘͝͠ኒ̷̨͕̺̠̞̞̲͈͖̗͚̪͇̣̙̻̓̐̽̆̽͒̀̀̍̚͜ጋ̶̢̧̨̜̞̫̞̱͍̻͖̞͔̟͑̂̀ኒ̷̛̰͇̠̣̙̜̞͍̥̓̈̐̂̉͂̀́̈̃͠͠ጋ̷̨̙͖͇͚̙͙͙̠̗͍́̿̐́̓̌͒͗̃͑͝ኒ̵̧̨̡̠̰̭̞̹̬̠͇̜̻͓̗͇̟̅̐̓̄͐͂̀̿̔̕ጋ̶̙͈̻̤̞̈́̀̑͂͐͑̌́͜͜ኒ̵̡̡̛͇̣̣̬͓͕͇̥̬̳̟̤̝͓̻̔͊̇̔̀̾͛ጋ̸̬̖̥̱͎̜͙͌̄͊̍͋͛̿̔́͊̇̕͘͝͠ His main goal is to encourage the player to destroy the game before something "terrible" happens. Despite this, the player is able to defeat him in a climactic boss battle which permanently changes your save file to load a version of the game where Null is completely absent. This includes replacing Baldi's iconic screaming to "GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN" with a more tame "find a way out before I catch you", as well as replacing all of Null's encounters with secret, but oddly charming cutscenes of Baldi engaging in wacky shenanigans to reward players for going through the effort to reach those areas twice. Even his boss battle is replaced with "Glitchy Mode" which replaces Null with the Red Baldloon. After beating Red Baldloon, the cutscene of Mystman's bedroom where Null is usually shown dying is replaced with a sprite of Mystman himself congratulating the player for playing his game.
- Strange Baldi Variants
- BADSUM - a creepy Baldi that resides in a dark version of Baldi's office. He wears a blue shirt and has huge pupils and sunken eyes as well as his mouth in an open frown. He appears in a single sprite that is shown whenever the game encounters an error or a scripted error.
- The Baldloons/SpoopBalloon - The regular Balloon object but with a glitched texture to show a recolored sprite of Baldi wearing his party hat and holding his ruler. They appear on the second floor of the schoolhouse in Birthday Bash/Classic Remastered Party Style.
- Bladder - A secret character from Plus when using the portal poster on a random wall. He looks like Baldi but with a magenta shirt and a different facial structure and dithering method. His room features a chalkboard that mentions "scary grandma game" (likely referring to "Granny") as well as discouraging shitty knockoffs.
- DSCI_0000 - a distorted Baldi that has a deformed head and wears a cyan shirt. he is only seen on some wall textures as they are being corrupted and disappearing at the end of Birthday Bash/Party Style.
- 99 - not much is known about 99 other than it being the thing that Null tried to warn us about. 99 is most well known for being the room number for every single door in both of the games. 99 is responsible for corrupting the balloon counting minigame on the second floor of the schoolhouse at the end of Birthday Bash/Party Style. In that game he is represented by the hostile Red Baldloon , further supported by the regular red balloon being out of bounds in Birthday Bash/Party Style and having the number "99" written on it's reflection. 99's true form is believed to be shown in a recent update of Plus, but we only see it's head and possibly shoulders and appears to be some yellowish brown deformed humanoid almost resembling a zombie. The text "User you are DOOMED" is shown at the top left of this sprite.
