SNCA:Israel Defense Forces
The Israel Defense Forces also often mistakenly referred to as the Israeli Defense Forces or Israel Defense Force is the standing armed forces of Israel. It is the military arm of the security forces/security institution/security system (no one can agree on what to call it). If you want to find a large amount of genuine, serious information on the IDF your best bet would be Hebrew Wikipedia. While praised by many in the west for being an elite, high tech fighting force, this is only true for maybe 30-40 percent of the army. There are some real legendary engagements like the Valley of Tears and Operation Rimon 20 doe.
History[edit | edit source]
Before the IDF, there were a handful of Jewish militias operating in Mandatory Palestine as Jewish immigration to the land increased. Many Yishuv Jews were recruited by the British to fight in both world wars and in turn both groups became largely allied with eachother, mutually assisting eachother in the 1929 Hebron Riots and 1936 Arab Revolt.
As Arab violence towards Jews became more commonplace so did tit-for-tat retribution attacks on Arabs, Jewish militias were often centred around defending Jewish settlements and neighbourhoods which was somewhat aided by the British. Eventually shit escalated into open war between Jewish groups and the Muzzies by 1948 and the British gave up on the region. There were also interventions from pretty much every neighbouring Arab country in the area.
The IDF was formed out of the three major Jewish militias that had been operating in the levant since around the 1920s; Haganah, Lehi and Irgun. Though Lehi was nearly excluded from the IDF's formation because everyone else hated them for being too extreme even by Haganah standards and also for sperging out at the British over them limiting Jewish immigration sometime 1940s in order to appease the arabs and completely obliterating the good relations between the British and the Jews in the area. Lehi got in regardless because Jews didn't want to start a civil war while fighting a 360 degree front war against everyone else. Eventually the IDF got tired of Lehi's bullshit in the aftermath of their 23409th consecutive spergout (Deir Yassin Massacre) and its leaders were imprisoned with the movement and identity stamped out.
Due to the Arabs being profoundly retarded the IDF was able to win the 1948 war and brought on the nACKbah ("The Catastrophe" in Arabic) directly killing about 13,000-15,000 Muzzies and """expelling""" around 740,000 more, thus the State Of Israel was born.
Afterwards the IDF went on to fight the Fedayeen Insurgency through the 50s and 60s, the Suez Crisis, the Six Day War, the Yom Kippur war, like 4 different wars in Lebanon, several counterinsurgency campaigns in the West Bank and Gaza as well as two or three (depending on how you count it) air wars with Iran and seizing the Syrian side of the UNDOF line in the Golan Heights.

Service and Personnel[edit | edit source]
There are three(ish) types of service in the IDF, those being:
- Active/Conscript Service: People who get drafted typically at age 18 or 19. They serve for two or three years before their time is up and they get put into reserves instead.
- Reservists: Typically people who completed their conscript service, however other people can get into the reserves too. As the name suggests it's a part time reserve force of around 465,000 people who can be called back to service for a few months to a year or so at any time. Though, realistically, given the state of the Logistics Corps they can afford to feed and equip maybe like 200,000 guys at once at most. (Around 130,000 got called up in the aftermath of October 7th)
- Permanent Service: People who fully voluntarily sign the dotted line to serve for a minimum of 4-8 years depending on the contract. This ranges from people actively serving in Sayeret Units to High functioning aspies who got in via Mihulim. Between PF guys and the conscripts they both make up around 170,000 soldiers total, Though the IDF doesn't release info on how many people are on permanent or conscript contracts.
The PFs are also the only people who get properly paid, with the average yearly salary of a career contract soldier being around 90,000 USD compared to around 10,000-12,000 USD yearly for conscripts and reservists. For many backline conscripts who don't get combat pay they can't even afford to buy anything from the vending machines on-base. However, the IDF has programs for "Lone Soldiers" - soldiers with no family in Israel. They get extra pay and benefits giving them the ability to rent some mud hut in a shithole neighbourhood like Ramat Gan or live with a rich volunteer family. IDF soldiers being able to go on leave into the civilian world is considered very important as it is simply scientific fact that prolonged life on-base is a form of psychological and physical torture that shouldn't be used on even Palestinians.
Branches and Organisation[edit | edit source]
If you actually care about this you should look at This Hebrew Wikipedia Article and this graphic on English Wikipedia
The IDF is much more centralised than most other armed forces out there. For example, while every branch of the US Armed Forces has its own Military Police and Medical Corps, the IDF has one Military Police corps under the Personnel Directorate which is tri-service and directly reports to the General Staff. There are still branches that have their own Staff Corps and other semi-useless things like that Though, those being;
- Israeli Ground Forces: Home branch of all ground units (duh).
- Israeli Air Force: The closest thing Israel has to a professional army. Requires a very high Dapar Aptitude Test Score to get in.
- Israeli Navy: Forgotten ugly duckling of the IDF only known domestically for ACKing the entire Syrian Navy 50 years ago and internationally for a PT Captain trying to sink a US Vessel (USS Liberty). Basically a Green Water Navy that operates like the US Coast Guard does. The Navy's Sub Force is believed to have atleast a dozen nuclear missiles at their disposal.
Horrendous Discipline[edit | edit source]
For much of the Conscript and Reservist force, the moment an officer, senior NCO or MP turns their back on them they WILL immediately start stealing and breaking shit. Given the fact that the Military Justice System is overwhelmed by accusations of more serious crimes like rape and murder they get away with it for the most part unless there's undeniable evidence of them doing it (e.g. video footage) in which case they are immediately imprisoned in the Meat Locker for up to 30 days. Most of the time if you don't have evidence but try reporting such crimes to anyone in command they will tell you to eat shit and die.
One famous example of this is when during the 2026 ground campaign in South Lebanon some retard smashed up a statue of Jesus Christ in a Maronite Catholic Lebanese town. Within a few days he and the guy who photographed it were put in military prison and the geniuses at Northern Command decided they would make amends for this by buying an Orthodox Cross from some tourist store in the Old City Jerusalem and gifting it to said Catholic town. The town accepted it regardless but the original cross was replaced by Italian UNIFIL Peacekeepers. Some goyish minds couldn't comprehend this and thought that this meant that the IDF simply hadn't given them the cross in the first place.
The most egregious example of the IDF's shitty discipline is the USS Liberty incident when the Captain of a PT Boat formation ordered his own PTs and a handful of air force jets to attack the Liberty, after being sent there by Naval Command who had it pinned as a possible/likely Egyptian ship. Despite his subordinates identifying it as a US vessel, he had the attack continue until one of the boats pulled out one of the life rafts and showed the markings to the captain, at which point the attack was called off. 34 Americans died and 171 were wounded. Both governments saw this as an embarrassment and both passed it off as a tragic accident, Israel paid monetary reparations to the sailors and their families and that was that. It's generally accepted that the PT Captain was either retarded, wanted to win glory for the Navy and blow shit up or he thought Israel was losing the war and wanted to rope the US into it. Other people think that the attack was a strategic move by the highest echelons of Israel to bring the US into the war or they simply just wanted to kill Americans. This is retarded and NOT true and you WILL NOT investigate further.
Base conditions and quality of life[edit | edit source]
The IDF's food and catering is notoriously bad - in regards to both field rations and food served on-base. While tasting like dog shit mixed in with a petri dish of Super AIDS the food still provides basic nutrition, which is better than other MENA militaries which don't even bother with feeding their troops to begin with. Though every piece of food one eats has a roughly 50 percent chance of giving them some kind of food poisoning/disease.
Base housing isn't much better. Either soldiers live in tegart forts built by the British over a century ago or they live in shitty tofu dreg """modern""" housing built by Chinese Contractors, the former probably has no defense against insects or the heat while the latter is usually better in that regard however all of them are filled with fungus and black mold. If something breaks (even if it's a load bearing wall coming down) it's rare for anything to be fixed within 6 months. Don't volunteer to, they won't let you. Same shit goes for the few FOBs that the IDF has constructed, though these are rarer because it's cheaper and easier to just hijack a civilian building for a couple weeks, which has been standard doctrine since time immemorial.
OPSEC[edit | edit source]
Post 7/10, the IDF takes OPSEC very seriously. It has been determined that The Mutants had widespread initial success on October 7th due to the IDF's half assed OPSEC with details about bases, tactics, schedules etc being found online and also through various catfishing operations undertaken by Hamas (yes, really). As a result, the IDF has become completely anal about OPSEC, developing an AI that goes through the social media of soldiers and policemen to make sure they don't post anything classified. It's also believed certain Twitter accounts of IDF soldiers have dedicated teams of soldiers inside the Intelligence Directorate watching them 24/7.
Another thing they do is go through Hebrew and English Wikipedia to immediately suppress anything that could compromise OPSEC, as well as filling both with red herrings and disinformation aimed at making their way towards hostile actors seeking information on the army. This practice is widespread on pretty much every site and platform you could possibly find IDF-related information.
Nuclear Weapons[edit | edit source]
It is believed that Israel started creating nuclear weapons around the 1950s, and had built one by 1966, increasing production around the time of the Six Day War in 1967. Estimates of how many nuclear weapons the IDF has ranges from 90 to 450, both based in ground silos and submarines.
Foreign Support[edit | edit source]
In its early history, the IDF was reliant on smuggled and captured weaponry for procurement. This was made possible by arms dealers across the world, especially in Czechoslovakia. The flow of arms to Israel was made easier by the fact that many people in the west, including military and government personnel were sympathetic to Jews and Israel. Ironically, one of the, if not THE most used rifle during the 1948 War was the German Kar98k. IDF armourers had figured out that the sights were partially sabotaged by Czech factory workers and something of an industry was made out of fixing these.
Later on, Israel secured an arms relationship with France for a while, though under US pressure France pussied out during the Six Day War for a bit, prompting Israel to start a domestic arms program, creating small arms weaponry such as the Uzi and Galil doe Israel was still reliant on foreign supply for heavy vehicles such as the British Centurion tanks (Sho't). Israel also dabbled in its own domestic fighter program, the IAI Lavi.
In the early stages of the Yom Kippur war, the IDF pretty much collapsed on all fronts due to the fact that most of the army was on leave and the supply/production chain was pretty much mothballed. Despite defending units achieving insane kill ratios, Israel was getting pushed back and it was becoming possible that Israel might actually lose. However, the United States and Richard Nixon came to the rescue. A quote from Nixon that went on record was "Send everything that can fly (to israel)". This became Operation Nickel Grass and hundreds of C-141 Cargo Planes were flown out to Israel, giving the IDF equipment, ammunition and spare parts that they desperately needed. Israel launched a counterattack and was able to gain ground west of the Suez Canal and east of the Golan Heights line, before settling for peace.
Going forwards, this established much US influence over Israel and the US became the main supplier of the IDF as Israel's domestic arms program also ramped up. In recent times (2024-) there has been an increasingly vocal campaign in Israeli politics and the IDF to end much of the US Military aid to Israel, seeing it as a way for the US to control Israel (which is kind of ironic given how many people think AIPAC and Israel control the US). In 2026 Netenyahu signed a fuck ton of orders to expand domestic procurement programs, including a "Blue and White fighter" (probably just an F-35I clone though).
Facts about the IDF[edit | edit source]
- No one hates the IDF more than people who have served in it.
- The IDF has the dumbest, most retarded people you have met filling its ranks.
- The IDF simultaneously has some of the smartest people to ever live working for it.
- The IDF was the biggest backer and ally of Apartheid South Africa (including Rhodesia to an extent). Arguably the first usage of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle in a combat zone was during Operation Protea 1981 where the South African Defence Force used a handful of IAI Scout drones for reconnaisance.
- The IDF (and Israel) is secretly controlled by Hebrew Catholics.
