Soyjak Wiki:Category

Categories are how the wiki is organized. They are designed to be an easy way to find articles that are relevant to a specific subject. A page's categories are listed at the bottom of the page.
Categorizing pages
[edit | edit source]You can add any page to a category by adding [[Category:CategoryName]] anywhere on the page, though it's preferred if you put it at the bottom. You can also use the HotCat gadget to more easily add categories to pages.
Template categories
[edit | edit source]Several templates automatically categorize a page. For example, the {{Salty}} template adds the page to Category:Salty pages.
Creating categories
[edit | edit source]If you feel that a page belongs in a category that does not exist, simply add the page to the category like you would normally. A red link will appear in the category list. Click it to create the category page, then type a short description of the category.
All categories should be a subcategory of another category. If a category doesn't fit as a subcategory of any other category (for example, it's too broad), add it to Category:Contents, which is the top-level category of the wiki.
