Contact lenses

Contact lenses or contacts are small plastic lenses that are applied directly to the eye. Some even can make you appear with a different eye color, like blue. Do you know who this reminds me of?

Advantages

• They provide better peripheral vision.
• They do not get smudged or collect moisture.
• You can wear other eyewear such as sunglasses or protective goggles.

Disadvantages

• They are much more expensive than glasses.
• They are a pain in the ass to put in and take out.

LASIK

LASIK is perfectly safe and effective, you WILL NOT investigate further!

LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is a surgery where an ophthalmologist uses a laser to fix the corneal stroma and correct visual impairments such as myopia, hypermetropia, and astigmatism.

Advantages

• The eye itself is corrected, so no corrective lenses of any kind are necessary.
• Surgery can correct some issues that even corrective lenses can't, leading to near-perfect vision.

Disadvantages

• Rare errors during surgery can cause horrifically painful eye conditions that have even caused suicides in the past.
• Your insurance probably won't cover it.
• It wears off after a decade or two.
• For people with less severe vision problems, the cost and risk probably aren't worth it.
