A Namespace is a method of classifying wiki pages based on their subject matter. Unlike categories, namespaces are included in the page's title with the format namespace:pagename. By default, newly-created pages are generated in the 'main' namespace (i.e. no text before the page title). All namespaces also have a corresponding "talk" namespace for page discussion.

Default Namespaces

These namespaces are included automatically in websites, such as this one, that run on MediaWiki. When searching, you need to enter both the namespace and the page title; for example, to get to Template:Frogtext, you need to actually type in "template:frogtext" instead of just "frogtext". • Main: The default namespace for articles. Has no prefix. Also called the "mainspace." On the Soyjak Wiki, this namespace is for pages that are related to the Soysphere or soy culture, as well as high-quality articles unrelated to the soysphere.
• Talk: For the discussion of pages and how to improve them. Every namespace has a corresponding talk namespace by default.
• User: User pages, obviously. Note that pages about users (when applicable) are different from the user pages themselves.
• User Talk: The main method of contacting wiki users.
• Template: see the template article. Pages within this namespace are protected^🔒, meaning that you cannot edit them without being approved to do so by moderators.
• File: self-explanatory. Whenever you upload a file, a page for it is automatically generated in this namespace.
• Image: Alias of the File namespace.
• Media: Alias of the File namespace. When used, this inserts the link to the file itself, rather than the file's page. For example, see Media:Coinslot HD.jpg.
• Project: Alias of the Soyjak Wiki namespace
• Help: Contains tutorials and guides for editing the 'ki. Mostly unused on this site, as most tutorials are in the Soyjak Wiki namespace.
• Category: Pages that are added to categories are automatically listed in their category pages.
• MediaWiki: Pages that are used to create the user interface of the wiki.
• Module: Lua and JavaScript modules that are used by the Scribunto and ResourceLoader extensions for things like galleries and template docs. Some script kiddie named Thicktitties00 once tried to hack the 'ki with a MediaWiki vulnerability related to this namespace.
• Special: a namespace for interactive pages, such as Special:Log or Special:RecentChanges.

Soyjak Wiki Namespaces

These namespaces were manually added to the 'ki by administrators.

• Draft: Formerly known as SNCA. This namespace was added under the Cobblestone administration as a way to broaden the scope of the 'ki, and was meant to encompass subjects that aren't directly related to the soysphere. It's now a draft space to store articles that are both low-quality and unrelated to the soysphere. Draft articles stay there until they are polished enough to be moved back to the mainspace.
• Soyjak Wiki: This namespace contains pages that concern the 'ki itself. Examples include the wiki rules, beginner guides, funny janny-ralds and this very page itself (WAOW WHAT AN EPIC FOURTH WALL META REFERENCE!)
• Tag: linked to the corresponding tag on SoyBooru. For example, if you click on the "?" icon on the 'soyak' tag on the 'ru, you will be directed to Tag:Variant:soyak. This feature was added as part of the Nuuru implementation.
• Dailyjak: Pages related to the Dailyjak
• Namefag: Pages about namefags who aren't notable enough for mainspace articles.
