The movie is actually quite gemmy you should check it out.
Production[edit | edit source]
The movie is based on a book by Stephen King of the same name. While the film was originally called Cyber God but the studio had the rights for the book name and decided to go for it instead, which Stephen King didn't like due to being a Selfish Little Fuck.[1] The premise is based on humanity's relation to technology and how someone can be turned into a digital god through the power of science, as well as the philosophical implications that come from it and the creation of a fake reality in general.[2] The movie had 10 million dollar budget that was mostly used for the cgi effects which were expensive and revolutionary in the 90s. It became a box office success spawning a sequel and a videogame, while (((some))) have criticized the movie for the lack of black trans women in the main cast, how loosely it adapts the source material and the special effects looking dated by today's standards, many other still appreciate the story and understand its significance in developing the cgi industry.[3]
Relation with the Soysphere[edit | edit source]
Due to being the catalyst for the creation of Cobson, the movie gained a lot of notoriety and interest on the sharty, with users having embraced it as a gem and synonymous with gemmy things in general. This has given the film newfound cultural relevance even decades after being released, presenting it to a new younger generation that would otherwise probably not have heard of it, thus saving this movie from only being remembered after being a subject of shitty video essays talking about how heckin wacky it is or how weird the dated cgi is. Nowadays, clips of the Lawnmower Man on Youtube will even be full of Soyteens referencing Cobson and praising the film. It is actually quite wholesome.
