Video Essays (aka Video Documentaries) are a form of video, usually on JewTube, that disseminate large amounts of information about a certain topic in the format of an essay (y'know, those things you wrote in high school and never again?). These topics can be as broad as history about a country, or heavily focused on why a certain enemy from a videogame was ruined by the latest entry in the franchise. You WILL make copypastas and 'jaks mocking video essays, ESPECIALLY Mega Essays.
The most popular video essays are 10 minutes in length, but can span as long as over 14 hours. Soy boys are the biggest fans of video essays. Chuds also enjoy certain kinds of video documentaries, and share Europa: The Last Battle with fellow chudcels on /pol/.

Fiction Essay[edit | edit source]
Fiction essays, aka fiction video documentaries, center around movies, TV, videogames, etc. It is the definitive soy boy genre. A fictional essay is usually about media that's very mysterious or how well done a certain character is, with psychological themes. Sometimes, the creator soys out on how well done a single moment in a movie is done for an hour. Tends to be the most soy boy and normie friendly kinds of essays.
Political Essay[edit | edit source]
Comes in three subgenres: Normie, Breadtube and Chudcel. Normie political essays focus on less controversial political issues, while Breastube talks about why X person is le bad or why term that was made up last month is le bad. Both subgenres are left-leaning. Some notable creators include Not Just Bikes, Second Thought, BadEmpanada, Hasan Piker, The Deprogram, Chapo Trap House and other faggots. They particularly enjoy larping as commies even though Stalin and other based commies would have sent them to a GULAG for being trannies.
Chudcel political essays are less common, and usually can't be found on YouTube because of censorship. They are more likely to be shared by anonymous hyperlinks rather than spread by an algorithm.
Political Exposé[edit | edit source]
Very similar to political essays. Sometimes the videos are labeled as a video documentary. These kind of essays "expose" a group or person for being shady or greedy. Political Exposés inevitably become Broken Aesops when their creators sell out and accept sponsors from shitcoin scams.
Drama[edit | edit source]
Similar to political exposés, but instead of Klaus Schwab, it's a lolcow or another JewTuber being exposed. See: Turkey Tom
Mega Essay[edit | edit source]
Mega essays are usually over 3 hours in length. Unfortunately, this genre seems to be filled with the most autistic Shit Nobody Cares About. A common trope in mega essays is how much they pad length by including topics that have little to do with the video's title, but are somehow tangentially related. Calling them video "essays" is rather inaccurate, because the script could probably be put in a novel and sold if it didn't contain copyrighted material.
Normieslop[edit | edit source]
Normieslop is the most popular kind of video documentary. Ironically, it is the least like a video documentary, because it is watered down and very easily consoomable. Normieslop typically uses Corporate Memphis
as the art style. The topics are usually not political, except when explaining a historical event. JewTube's algorithm loves to heavily push this genre to normies. Normieslop is usually shorter than 20 minutes in length. It is also common for Normieslop creators to reupload existing content in compilations, which is when it exceeds 1 hour length.

One notable genre of normieslop is Science, because normies will watch the soyence and scream:

Science video essayists rarely, if ever, seek to properly educate viewers about science. Most science video essays are about how heckin' scary space is, how science BTFOs the heckin' superstitious Christofascist bigots,[a] and how wholesome 100 it is to take vaccines, eat bugs, and live in a pod. You VILL avoid watching these to learn about science, as they are completely useless to that end, and only serve the purpose of indoctrinating you into supporting the New World Order.

A professional documentary on the 'tube. Arguably the least autistic and soy genre. Documentaries are longer than 30 minutes, and explore the subject in depth. They wrap back around to being autistic when they become Mega Essays.
AI Slop[edit | edit source]
Any Ai-generated video falls under this category. Fortunately, there is a level of human effort necessary for these to take off. The laziest content farms get less than 100 views and die off quickly. The most successful content follows a trend. These are easily identifiable using pattern recognition. They have a "maybe hand drawn" thumbnail, the signature ChatGPT-speak (with em dashes and 3 item lists), and latch onto certain trends. The trend list below is marked.
