At the time, Arabia was a barbaric and ignorant place, full of weird idol worship, poor hygeine and female infanticide. Muhammad peace upon him then began to preach to the enteriety of Mecca, but the polytheists kept leaking at him for saying the trvth. They harrased him constantly and even killed some of his followers. They leaked at Muhammad peace upon him so hard, they forced him to move north to Medina, an event known as the Hijra.
