A particularly deranged 'teen.

Soyteen, also known as 'teen, is was an obsolete^{[It just is, OK?]} term that is used to refer to a regular member of the Soy community and usually the Sharty.

Soyteens are overwhelmingly male and tend to be regular Anglo-Americans between the age of 14-20, as with the userbase of most imageboard sites. The intelligence of the typical Soyteen is unknown, though it is theorized that the mixed and occasionally interesting minds which inhabit the ‘party have evened it out to be on par with the general population. The average 'teen was 5'10 (178.5cm for you europoors), which is probably correct considering the average height in the USA is 5'10 as well, they were overwhelmingly white^{[they just were, ok?]}, tended to have autistic traits, and were either christian or agnostic. (A very small minority were mudslimes doey)

The classic culture of the site and the founding principles of the Soyjak meme both center on an escape from decadence and an embracement of masculine characteristics. From this, we can assume that many Soyteens, especially longtime ones, used to maintain a respectable physical form. The existence of the /fit/ board supports this theory. However, the board fell into a dead status a long time ago, and as of February 21 2025 has served only around 3000 posts. This may indicate that the culture of the ‘party is quite indifferent to fitness.

Upon the events of 1/28, the term “soyteen” became somewhat obsolete because most of the actual teens on the site were banned. Nowadays, the terms "soyposter" and "soyadult" are used, though "soyteen" is still seen on the board often due to the term's momentum from 5 years of usage and since 18 and 19 year olds are still teens.

Nate

Nate, the depiction of a soyteen, is usually based on Yotsuba, with the pigtails removed and hair turned yellow to resemble Minecraft namefag Nate, and the shirt covered in soot.

Etymology

The term was initially used as an insult poking fun at the perceived age of 'teens. Eventually, the term lost its negative connotation and became a casual label used by the soy community itself, even the ones that have become adults.
