I am attempting to speed up the booru images recovery, and one of the biggest hurdles is dealing with long file names like 30322 - soybooru.com - 2 animal animaljaks award badge beak bird blue skin brown hair bushy eyebrows duck eyebrows feather glasses grin hair looking at you looking to the left nose raised eyebrow sharty smug smugja.png I will trim them to their gallery ID (i.e. 30322.png) , but the full link (and name) should still be in the summary. Thats fine, I will go through and delete the long unused ones later once this recovery process thing is complete. Dont forget to make the long ones unused though by making them use the short named ones instead Fenriris 🐺 06:25, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

Auto works very well, should speed things up a lot. Stopped uploads currently cause no staff seems to be around to resolve the overwrite thing. I'll restart once I see someone is active Rickert (talk) 07:42, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

Once this is done, all remaining files are lost on the Wiki and there is no easy way to identify the remaining >90% of them. I'll see if I can come up with some method to identify and revive them, but I'd be surprised if its substantial. As for the total amount of content restored, I would say we're definitely above the ~50% ballpark. From here on, it's probably better to focus on pages missing content and either ask original uploaders to reupload or find a suitable replacement probably. I will also upload all the videos I have saved from yesterday but haven't gotten around to uploading once booru recovery is complete. Rickert (talk) 07:46, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

More Updates

Images with a clear booru ID that were lost have been all restored (will 100% confirm later but I'd be surprised if it missed any) videos require a different approach and would've slowed it down considerably but they're next. Rickert (talk) 15:31, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

Even More Updates

Hello hello again. I've been at work restoring files manually and around ~50 have been identified to their originals and restored so far. On the other hand, I have logged every file that I failed to recover and will drop a list of lost files that are in use on each uploader to notify them. This should bring us easily above 75% recovery and hopefully to the end of this quagmire. Rickert (talk) 10:53, 9 August 2026 (UTC)
