Agugu was a failed attempt at creating a gem. It's an edited image of Mymy from Ongezellig with a distorted face, crudely mocking the gemerald known as caca. Agugu has big eyes, small pacifier and orange colored hair.

Origins

According to the zarty wiki, Agugu was first posted in a /zellig/ thread created on May 15, 2024 discussing what Ongezellig would look like if it was made in Ohio instead of Netherlands. The image originally just depicted Mymy with enlarged eyes, with a pacifier being subsequently added at a Zarty user request. The name “Agugu” originates from a thread created in /zellig/ the following day, which was an image of the edit with just the text “agugu”. Agugu was effectively used by an anonymous zellig fan in a /soy/ thread on the Sharty to generate over 600 posts of subsequent soyduel, spanning 4 pages, versus an obsessed ‘zellig-hating ‘teen. Due to this incident, soyientists expressed concern that Agugu may have similar destructive capabilities to spadeson and other similar forms of brimstone. Sharty representatives successfully formed legislation against the use of Agugu in early August of 2024. A Zarty user was the first to discover this and notify fellow members of the zarty. It's likely that the idea of distorting Mymy to look like a baby was inspired by Deformed Soyjaks.

Impact

Since traditionally fluffy mascots that are fully NAS won't be well received on the site where you draw bald men with glasses meant to mock people, many soyteens seethed at xher existence, and accused her of being nu' Lita. The general impact of Ongezellig on the Sharty after Zelligate might contribute in part with the hatred soyteens might have with this meme, paired with the over prevalence of pedophiles on imageboard sites bringing a suspicion behind any type of child-like mascots being created, mirroring negative past experiences regarding Age Regression and the aforementioned Soylita. Not to mention there's also the fact that this meme was an off-site creation and was spammed on /soy/ contributing to any doubts about the intention of those posting.

Agugu has been subject for multiple soyscholars to dissect the ethics around her posting, as on first glance it seems to walk on a fine line between being merely harmless but childish slop or concerning brimstone. She looks to be the kind of character who is meant to be similar to chibi mascots with no other purpose other than to look cute and make some people say "Awww! Look at this adorable baby acting silly, isn't this funny!" which seems to be vast majority of jokes involving Agugu, but all that vein of humor is already done by the babyjak in ways that are much more enjoyed and fitting with Soysphere culture than Agugu could ever manage to. On the other hand, there's the fact that Agugu is a victim of self-insert by pedo trannies with age regression or diaper fetishes and also symbolizes the kind of children xhey want to groom, with some of them even creating 'p of her on the certain hostile website's image stash, which gives fuel to the idea that Agugu is a vessel for some pedophiles to subvert soyculture and introduce their degeneracy and by adding content that represents it and pretending it's just a harmless meme, similar to what lolipedos do with their "cunny" dog whistle. Nonetheless, some complain that even with pedos aside, agugu still sucks cause xhe is moeslop that represents discord or xitter tier humor.

Agugu has been spammed on a few threads on the Sharty, and also has been used on the Zarty and Shemmy, with a dedicated thread on the former. The controversial nature of Agugu is a source for effective bait, in general there are few main ways she used to be posted:

Conventional posts

Perhaps the most common type, it consists of the kind of posts mentioned on the section above , centered around the character itself and her antics more than any other outside context not too dissimilar to how babyjak is often posted on how 4cuck users portray Yotsuba. These kind of content includes regular fanart, soyquotes, edits of Agugu on wacky situations, the kind of things you could expect from regular normie memes about some silly character.

Agugu self-inserting

Perhaps the darkest kind of Agugu posting, and the one to generate the most amount of outrage. This practice consists of mimicking how one would imagine Agugu would behave like, talking in babyspeak, gibberish and constantly using the word "binky", which is slang a dogwhistle for pacifier. Other than the possible negative implications associated to age regression, it is also considered to just be extremely cringe worthy, which also makes this method the most effective for baiting, as in general you could never be truly sure if the self inserter is acting genuinely or just looking to enrage other users.

Agugu violence content

A much rarer type of posts, it consisted of drawing Agugu dying or getting hurt in brutal ways to try to piss off her supporters. The concept of making art of characters considered "cute" getting hurt to piss people off is nothing new, however once again niche online commuinities are the kind of places where all intentions must be taken with a hint of skepticism, thus it's likely that some bad actors might've made these drawings for pleasure of seeing kids hurt under the disguise of simply disliking Agugu.
