There are many aspects of soy culture that might be difficult to understand at first glance, leading to some newfags to misunderstand how The Soysphere works, so here's a list of common misconceptions and a deboonking of them.
List of common misconceptions[edit | edit source]
- 4chan connections: Despite being heavily influenced by 4chan culture, there are still a lot of fundamental differences between how 4cuck users act compared to Soyteens, even to the point of a lot of people on each site disliking each other.
- Everything can be 'jakked: Just because you traced a picture into a ms paint drawing does not automatically mean it will be considered a soyjak or even accepted. Even when jakking a Soyboy picture, the end result might still be considered coal, usually for lacking any sort of uniqueness, cultural relevance or use cases that haven't already been taken by older, more popular variants. It might also just look bad for soyjak standards due to common mistakes when producing. See also NAS.
- Sharty users are all neo-nazi chuds: While some people on the sharty do genuinely have chuddy beliefs, that doesn't mean everybody shares every value with Hitler. Most people might simply make edgy jokes to fit in or to have fun or feel provocative and counter-cultural without actually believing in TND. This is the case for a lot of people on the sharty.
- Sharty users have no morals: Just because people might post jokes about controversial topics such as Nazis or rape, and dox some random e-celeb, doesn't mean they don't have any knowledge about what goes too far. There is a heavy push against things such as grooming, or the foodist belief that committing crimes, spamming 'p or convincing teenagers to self-harm is a form """trolling""". Alternatively, groups such as 764, O9A or the UTTP are also heavily looked down upon and being associated with them will get you banned. These sentiments are shared by the heavy majority of the Soysphere and included in the rules of the sharty .
- Soyjaks are incomprehensible: With the advent of popular posts discussing incomprehensible wojacks and some in-jokes requiring a bit more of understanding than the average meme, it has led some people to believe that Soyjaks are simply too difficult to understand. The reality is that most posts aren't that esoteric and can be understood with some time of browsing the sites or reading the wiki, in fact most of the posts people see as incomprehensible are purposefully abstract or absurdist for the sake of the joke.
- The Sharty is a pedophile den that has CSAM as it's culture This is false, according to the rules. The problem is that the Soysphere is targeted by foodists and other groups that try to groom and extort young teenagers for pedophilic reasons. This is not inherent to the sharty, and you do get permanently banned if you are associated with pedophile groups or request illegal content.
- Wojaks are commonly posted: No. Wojaks are not very heavily featured on the sharty or elsewhere. Along the years, there's been effort to separate what's considered a wojak and a soyjak, in order to make soyjaks stand out and become more unique compared to what's usually seen on the regular internet.
- [X] has fallen, millions must die: This phrase hasn't been popular in soyjak culture for a long time. The reason it might seen so is because it was heavily picked up by people outside of the Soysphere and been posted and repeated on comment sections of any sharty meme that has become even slightly mainstream. This association with normies led to it effectively being wiped from the Soysphere.
