osu! (Also known as the 'su or soysu!) is a rhythm game by peppy originally created as a simulator for the DS games osu! cling clang ching chang or whatever and Elite Beat Agents but eventually developed it's own identity. It was gradually expanded to have real time multiplayer and 3 other game modes, the first to be added was Catch The Beat, then Taiko, and finally Mania. The game is vaguely anime themed, which has lead to a gradual influx of trannies.
Game Modes[edit | edit source]
osu!standard[edit | edit source]
The original game mode for osu! (Also known as osu!standard or osu!std for lazy fucks who can't type 5 extra letters) Involves 3 object types: Circles, Sliders, and Spinners. Circles are simple: You aim for and click them when it's approach circle meets the edge of the circle. The Z and X keys (by default) can also be used to hit the circles. A slider functions similarly to a circle, but you must continue holding and tracking it until it reaches the end. The final object type is the Spinner, which is arguably non-rhythmic. You just spin your cursor around the center of the screen clockwise or counter-clockwise as fast as you can, like a sperg.

osu!taiko[edit | edit source]
Based off some drum from muh hecking Japanese culture or something. Notes come from the right side of the screen, and must be hit when they reach the circle towards the left side of the screen. You can find many Taiko rhythm game cabinets in arcades which are basically this mode but better.
osu!catch[edit | edit source]
The DNB SNCA game mode. You have to move your tranime character across the screen using the left and right arrow keys to catch objects coming from the top of the screen. You can use shift to dash, which can also momentarily make you shoot across the screen, letting you hit sparsely distant objects. This is played even less than Taiko.
osu!mania[edit | edit source]
A vertical scrolling game mod which most closely resembles Beatmania. osu!mania can be played from 1k to 18k, with 4K and 7K being the most common amounts. Anything above 5k is played only by the yellowest of Asians and NEETniggers. The number indicates how many rows of notes there are, of which each has an associated key. This mode has 2 types of objects: Standard notes (aka rice), and hold notes. For standard notes, you simply press the key associated with the row of the note when it reaches the bar near the bottom (or the top if you prefer upscroll) of the screen. Hold notes require you to hold the key until the end of the note reaches the bar. Releasing too early or late will give you a brappy judgement. This mode was based on Friday Night Funkin' because fnf is winner and Venezuela economy is gooder btw, if it matter.[it just is, ok?]
PP[edit | edit source]
![]() |
PP Farmers are HIV-ridden FAGGOTS! These individuals are faggots and will likely succumb to AIDS in the near future. |
PP (also known as Performance Points) are a system intended to measure player performance. Unfortunately, the flawed star system of 'su leads to there being tons of beatmaps out there designed to give players as much PP as possible. They're best known for turning the 'aping the game's ranked section (basically osu!janny approved maps) into a mountain of coaly 30s - 1:30 farming maps which usually only test aim skill.
Beatmaps[edit | edit source]

Beatmaps are a set of objects aligned to points in a song designed to reflect the qualities of the music in question. Due to osu!'s free, accessible nature, beatmaps of pretty much every genre of music can be found, of which unfortunately most of which is TV-size tranime opening slop made purely to break the PP system and to give the mapper (creator of the beatmap) internet clout. There's not many soyjak related songs on the 'su yet, so get to work in gemming it up.
Enjoying osu![edit | edit source]
Lazer Vs. Stable[edit | edit source]
Stable is the original client, while Lazer is a recreation of the client from the ground up. It's also open source, so Troonixfags can stop leaking or something. The 2 clients have subtle gameplay differences as well as Lazer having some additional quality of life features and gimmicks. Doebiet stable is le most hecking authentic way to play the game or whatever. Overall, just download Lazer if you don't care.
Playing osu![edit | edit source]
At first, just try out every game mode and see what sticks with you. Play beatmaps of songs you actually like instead of le thrembillionth generic tranime opening From then, you can go on to developing your skills so you can play more interesting beatmaps. Improving at the game is cool too, it can make you feel like an A10 Aryan super solider or something when you set an impressive score. Just don't treat the game like some sort of chore. Try to avoid engaging with the community, especially off-site (osu.ppy.sh, not the snarky snappy geg) as it's filled with 'cord pedos and leakers. The forum is okay THOUGH.
Mapping[edit | edit source]
Mapping is the process of creating a beatmap which reflects the song in some way. Have a look at this playlist of tutorials from pishifat on Goytube if you're interested in learning the ropes of mapping for osu!standard. the 'su is in dire need of being 'emmed up, so I recommend mapping some soyjak songs.
Skinning[edit | edit source]
Skins are a bunch of files in a folder used to change the appearance of the game. You'll probably want a skin optimized for high level play if you play stable and play even remotely competitively. osu!'s 'ki has good documentation on how skinning works. Read it if you're interested in making your own skin.
Storyboarding[edit | edit source]
A feature of 'su barely anybody cares about. Can be used to add and animate images to a beatmap.
