Funko Pops are a series of plastic renditions of various pop culture icons. Most people buy them as gifts or display pieces, but some mass collect them as part of a hopeless investment. Most of these Funko Pop collectors are literal soyboys, and Funko Pops are synonymous with soyboy culture itself.
History[edit | edit source]
A company named Funko first started gaining significant popularity with the introduction of the "Pop! Vinyl" line in 2010, featuring stylized characters from various franchises, first beginning to make vinyl figures from the DC Comics franchises. Funko would continue partnering with different franchises and producing more and more figures, including ones with a different size, artificial rarity, with most items that people collect (e.g. Pokémon cards, old vidya, sports cards.) The rarity is usually attributed to production errors and quality, with Funko Pops it’s all artificial and fake.
Five years ago in a legendary thread, a redditor would divorce his wife, choosing Funko Pops over her.

>So AITA for choosing Funko Pops over my wife? Again I'm very passionate about them and I think it's ridiculous for someone to try and take that away from me when it is in no way shape or form hurting them...
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the popularity of Funko Pops skyrocketed, as the company would mass produce so many Funko Pops from so many franchises that in 2023 the surplus of inventory began creating financial trouble for Funko. It was more expensive to keep the Funko Pops in a storage unit so they decided to throw out $30 million worth of Funko Pops into the local garbage disposals. Either way, this didn't change anything, as Funko Pops are still to be found in almost every supermarket in any first world country. Every anime, video game or show has nowadays had at least one raisiny Funko Pop made from it.
To finish it all off, they are all ugly, just a fad, and you are better off buying from any other vinyl figure manufacturer if you really want to.
In November 2025, Funko announced that they would probably end up in bankrupcy by 2026, rendering all soyboys (and troons) into a butthurt waterfall of tears and raisin.[1]
The Most Expensive Funko Pop[edit | edit source]
The Willy Wonka and Oompa Loompa Golden Ticket 2-Pack Funko Pop holds the record as the most expensive Funko Pop ever sold. With only 10 sets made of it, making it artificially rare, some sources cite a sale price of $100,000, while others indicate a higher sale price of $210,000.

You too, can buy this worthless piece of plastic for the price of a house.
