The Happy Merchant meme was invented by a snuff film enthusiast known as "A. Wyatt Mann" sometime in the 80's. He drew it in a cartoon he made that compared niggers to cockroaches and jews with rats, alongside the relevant image. However, roaches are actually Turks.
