The Happy Merchant meme was invented by a snuff film enthusiast known as "A. Wyatt Mann" sometime in the 80's. He drew it in a cartoon he made that compared niggers to cockroaches (even doe roaches are actually Turks) and jews with rats, alongside the relevant image.
