Archive links exist because pages need sources. If you can't provide an archive link then you can't have sources. It's not advertisement because nobody cares and won't join when they see a link. It's just meant to preserve accurate info. It's really a matter of what context they're being used in. This is a soysphere archive, and that image has been a staple on soysphere sites for years now (the purpose of the image is to mock cordpedos, after all). click "Template" at the top of the visual editor then look up the name of the template from Templates. or write {{ and it will pull up that wizard too. then if you want to change stuff in the template in the "parameters" section type "1" or "2" or "title" or "content" (check the template itself Template:Brimstone etc for the parameters you can change, you'll find them surrounded by three curly brackets in the code) and once you have those parameter boxes you can fill in whatever you want Cobblestone (talk) 17:09, 6 July 2025 (EST)

Maybe we can compromise between the articles that are seen as "advertisements" but still fit the purpose of the wiki. One idea I had was to move stuff like that to a subpage or a special category where users can still find them without cluttering the mainspace or suggesting endorsement. Gemming up all existing templates

Just so you are aware because this is a pretty big change, and a project, but I plan on revising all templates and adding the /doc subpage with <templatedata>. This will improve visual editor compatibility to make it easier for visual editor gods to insert and understand templates.

Right now for pretty much all of them, they dont integrate very well with the visual editor. This should also improve existing template documentation.
