i hadnt read that but yes its very close to what i had in mind

after unbanning the linking of splinters, the sncapedia lost a lot of it's purpose and mostly served as a space for non-quotecord approved perspective on controversial topics that were otherwise sanitized by the quotecord. Templates no longer work

I don't know what changed, but some mediawiki templates used in every page like {{reflist}} no longer work. I think this may have to do with the removal of Scribunto extension but I'm unsure. That and there is no need for more than one "administrator" bureaucrat, especially if there is concern about security (the role is still needed for wiki maintenance and other non-security related rights, hence why it was always delegated since Soot). I also had the idea of requiring 2FA for bureaucrats and enforcing stricter password requirements for accounts with higher-level permissions. Wikipedia has dumps with both all revisions and only current revisions of all pages, text only. Media downloads are completely separate from that. In addition to those we could also have a minimal option that's just the current revisions of mainspace pages. All text dumps would ideally be compressed, of course. I've experimented with MediaWiki before and if I remember correctly all media is stored in its own directory, so in theory it should be easy to archive that. I'm not sure exactly how much media is on here doe so zipping and distributing it could take a while and put a lot of strain on the server. I'm aware that the IRC was deleted for concerns about hostile offsite communities. But don't you think you should bring it back because it helps maintain contact with all of the other moderators and admins on site? You're the owner so avatarfagging or namefagging is kind of an exception to you, you shouldn't be worried about it because namefagging is universally disliked. okay so i hadnt actually read the wiki rules until 10 minutes ago

i removed the part about disruptive splinters (the part about banning people for even mentioning them was insane) but the rest actually looked fine already

i also read your rules proposition and have some feedback

- i think the community rules part is overly complex and not really needed since the really bad splinters are pretty much just cp sites and fall under the current g1

- forbidding links for certain sites on the basis of poor moderation is quite a good idea

- the clarity of having the ban lengths listed is actually one of favorite parts of the current ruleset but i can also see your argument for removing them so maybe hiding them from regular users could be a good middleground

chinny, chaddy, etc links are fine but no jssy obviously
