Onions
Onions are vegetables. Farmers and gardeners can grow onions from seeds or bulbs. If they plant seeds, they must later pull out most of the young plants so the rest can grow better. This is called 'thinning.' A different way to plant onions is to plant young bulbs. This is faster, but the onions that grow this way are weaker than the onions that started as seeds. There are many different types of onions, such as Sweet, Spanish Yellow, Spanish White, Small White, Small Yellow, Scallions, Shallots (controversially), and Red Italian

Onions were heavily associated with soyjaks due to a 4chan word filter which automatically turns the word soy into onions, and when combined with another word, into based. For example: soyjak becomes basedjak. Usually, soy posters will spell it soi and soijak. If you came across someone confused, surprised or unintentionally allowing soy becoming either onions or based, such as Soot[1][2][3], this meant that they were relatively new to soy posting and 4channel in general. Doebeit it was disabled on /ck/ to prevent any confusion amongst the users.

The reason the word soy is filted on 4cuck is because a mod on /g/ kept getting triggered over being called a soyboy for owning a Mac. That, and multiple /v/ threads at the time (mostlikely a marketing campaign from Sony) were getting spammed with "soy of war" and "my wife's son" whenever they featured god of war, which had released at the time. This would indicate the wordfilter has existed since early April of 2018.

In modern times, use of the word "onions" has fallen out of favor with the average soyposter. However, their legacy lives on for the rest of time in the form of the legendary SoyBooru logo.
