>Paganism is white oy valgo...
Paganism is a broad term for religions that weren't naturally constructed by God, or artificially by kikes or muzzies. According to (((them))) Paganism is defined as "An adherent of a polytheistic religion in antiquity, especially when viewed in contrast to an adherent of a monotheistic religion". Paganism in the west mostly died off around the 1200s after the pope called in his personal army to go ass-rape the Baltics because they made xis clitty leak. Nowadays Paganism is mostly practiced by chuds who think they're literally Varg and that they're saving the huwhite race by arguing with retards on /pol/ all day. Most pagans are gooners btw if that matters. Most pagan religions are animistic, as in believing that all things have spirits. Jews, satanists and Freemasons welcome paganism with open arms since the moment the Jews rejected Christ 2000 years ago.
Paganism refers to various native religions of cultures, and are not Abrahamic or Abrahamic-derived. These include:
- Germanic paganism (Odin, Thor, etc.)
- Slavic paganism (Perun, Svetovit, Yarilo, etc.)
- Greek paganism (Zeus, Ares, Hades, etc.), and derived Roman paganism (Jupiter, Mars, etc.)
- Shinto (Amaterasu, yokai, kami, etc.)
- Chinese folk religion (Jade Emperor, Nüwa, Shennong, etc.)
Different Pagan religions[edit | edit source]
Germanic paganism[edit | edit source]
Germanic (Nordic) paganism revolves around the worship of:
- Odin (Wotan), god of wisdom, magic, war, the dead, cunnûng and manipulative
- Thor (Donar), god of thunder, protection, strength, bloodlusted unlike what retarded Redditors think
- Tyr, god of law, justice, honour
- Freyr and Freyja, twin gods of fertility, prosperity, love, magic
- Frigg, goddess of marriage, motherhood, foreseight
They believed that fate was central, and all beings were subject to fate, even the gods, and that one should face destiny with courage and honour. Death was inevitable in their beliefs, but how one lived mattered the most. They believed in afterlifes, such as Valhalla (for warriors), Fólkvangr (the realm of Freyja), and Hel (a neutral realm for most people; not necessarily a place of punishment). The universe was considered a living system, connected by Yggsdrasil, the World Tree. The cosmos would eventually end in Ragnarök, a catastrophic but cyclical renewal.
It faded eventually as Germanic tribes converted to Christianity🗝️, such as by Roman adoption, but Germanic festivals continued into Christianity (such as Christmas originating from Yule, Easter originating from Spring fertility rites, etc.) The days of the week in Germanic languages derive from the names of the Germanic gods.
The Nazis (especially the SS, under Heinrich Himmler), built shrines to the Germanic gods and revived elements of Germanic paganism, out of rejection of Christian values, which they considered as universalist and meek.
A lot of Redditors larp as Nordic pagans because they think "christianity was heckin bigoted and homophobic/transphobic o algo" and project the Nordic gods to be heckin wholesome and tolerant, ev&oe the vikings would have killed them all for being social degenerates🗝️. This fake, corrupted form of pagan/nativist beliefs are the root from where most of these brimstone new-age religions like Wicca, which only rebellious art student girls believe in, spawned from.
Slavic paganism[edit | edit source]
Slavic paganism revolves around the worship of the following (but not limited to) gods:
- Perun: god of thunder/lightning, war, law
- Veles: god of cattle, wealth, magic, the underworld
- Mokosh: goddess of fertility, Earth, women's work
- Svarog: god of the sky, fire, the creator of the cosmos
- Dazhbog: god of the sun, giver of prosperity
- Svetovit: god of war, fertility, prophecy, light (prominent with the Polabian Slavs)
- Yarilo: god of spring, vegetation, youth, sexuality/fertility
The universe is comprised of three interconnected realms:
- Prav: cosmic order, divine laws
- Yav: the realm of humans
- Nav: the underworld (not necessarily an "evil" or Christian-like hell)
It believed in the sanctity of nature, and that all things had spirits.
It ultimately ended in 988 CE, with the Christianisation of Russia under Prince Vladimir. Originally, Princess Olga tried to promote Christianity in Russia, after marrying the Roman (Byzantine) Emperor, but her son Prince Svyatoslav refused to adopt Christianity as he saw it as a cuck religion and would be mocked by his warrior followers. Similar Christianisations occurred in other Slavic realms. Christianity is now deeply rooted into most Slavic nations (except "Bosnia", a fake nation invented by Tito, which is Muslim), for example under the Russian Empire. Christianity was briefly suppressed due the Soviet Union's atheist doctrine, but was eventually accepted under Stalin. Despite this, there are some revival movements, such as Slavic Native Faith.
Greek/Roman paganism[edit | edit source]
Greek/Roman paganism revolved around the worship of the following (but not limited to) gods:
- Zeus/Jupiter, god of sky, thunder, kingship
- Hera/Juno, goddess of marriage, queenship
- Athena/Minerva, goddess of wisdom, strategy
- Apollo, god of prophecy, music, healing
- Artemis/Diana, goddess of wilderness, hunting
- Ares/Mars, god of war, fertility, state power
- Aphrodite/Venus, goddess of love, desire
- Hades/Pluto, god of the underworld
In Greek/Roman paganism, the universe was ordered but impersonal, and Fate existed above the gods. The (Olympian) gods themselves were not primordial, as before them came the Titans and Primordial forces.
In Rome, the Greek paganism was adopted but tied to politics, and emperors were honoured as divine.
It ultimately ended with the spread of Christianity, especially under the poorer, lower class of the Roman Empire, and the legalisation of Christianity under Constantine and then the adoption of Christianity under Theodosius I.
Shinto[edit | edit source]
Shinto revolves around the worship of kami, referring to spirits (though in some translations can refer to "gods"), though they are not gods in the sense of Western conceptions. They are sacred presences or powers. In Shintoism, all things bear spirits and the world revolves around harmony in daily life, and purity. Many of Shintoist beliefs originate or were adopted from Chinese folk religion.
Some key gods include Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun, and from where the Emperor of Japan traditionally descends. Because of this, the Emperor had divine status and Shinto was used as a state ideology to justify nationalism and imperialism. However, with the defeat of Japan in 1945, the Emperor's divinity was rescinded. Despite this, Shintoism still remains prevalent in Japanese culture, even if not as a literal religion, but just a way of life.
A lot of weeaboos obsess over shinto because it's le heckin anime. Many of them are Touhoutrannies as well.
Chinese folk religion[edit | edit source]
Chinese folk religion revolves around operation by the universe by "yin and yang", complementary forces, and qi (vital energy), and has no "sin" or "final judgement", but focuses on harmony. It has a large pantheon of gods, and adherents worship those gods that are most relevant to their life. It consists of shen (spirits/gods), which include heavenly gods (of the sky, fate, or cosmic order), local gods (of cities, rivers, mountains), household gods (of the kitchen, door, etc.) and ghosts (the unsettled dead). It is animistic, and believes in spirits inhabiting all life.
Unlike Shintoism, which was adopted as a state ideology in Japan and used to justify divine right to rule by the Emperor, Chinese emperors did not have divine descent, and their right to rule was instead justified by the "Mandate of Heaven".
Throughout the 20th century, it was suppressed by various forces, such as the Nationalists which sought to eliminate superstitious beliefs, or the Communists which sought to eliminate feudal ideologies. Nonetheless, it persists to this day, though in a limited form - festivals and rituals are still partaken in.
Relationship with Christianity[edit | edit source]
According to many historians there was a time when pagan gods were the main thing, homever after some guy named Abraham got a revelation xhe founded the most prominent religions in the world like Christianity, Islam and Judaism, this basically killed paganism and most of their gods were demonized like ba'al and moloch🗝️ ("""gods""" whose followers sacrificed their children btw), the last religions that can be considered technically pagan on the modern world are Hinduism and basically nothing else geg. Thoughbeit, Yahweh, the god that Abrahamic religions settled on as supreme, originated from a pantheon of Canaanite pagan gods (don't mention this to christcucks geeeeg).
It's also worth saying that ancient Canaanite religion approved of incest[1], while Mayan/Aztec and Mesopotamian religions had human sacrifices[2] and worst of all...pedophilia (ohnononononoo romanxissies and greekxissies...)[3]
Also Hinduism can be classified as pagan, and it is one of the most barbaric religions of all (has child sacrifice, slavery, and coprophagia).
Redditors who larp as Nordic pagans are all faggots, as they worship horsecock and Odin drinks semen to replenish his powers (nordxissies...).
Neo-Paganism[edit | edit source]
Neo-paganism is another form of LARP that only troons and braniggers follow, they basically support the pagan gods (without the human sacrifices and other degeneracy thankfully) but they still think they are heckin' based and redpilled for following DNB "religions" (cults). But as a matter of fact, they are just larpers who retcon the native gods to be heckin wholesome supporters of degeneracy, though they would all have been killed in any ancient civilisation for being degenerates.
Neo-paganism and satanism are closely related.
Someone remind them that Pajeets also follow a polytheistic religion that encourages eating literal cow raisin.
Relationship with the Sharty[edit | edit source]
Paganism seems to be a very controversial topic on the Sharty due to the majority of soyteens being Christian or at least being from countries where that is the dominant religion. While pagans aren't a common sight on the Sharty, when they do show up they seem to rile up almost everyone in whatever thread they're posting in.
