Second Great Handover

Consider bringing a glass of water!
The Second Great Handover took place from August 5-9, 2026, during which Quote unexpectedly transferred control of the Soysphere to the new owner, Salt. Salt later stated that Quote "suddenly wanted everything off his hands sooner than originally agreed,"[1] suggesting that the handover had already been arranged for some time before the transfer date.[a] The date and terms of the original arrangement are unknown. According to Salt, he contacted Quote "about owning the site" by email, to which Quote was doubtful at first. After Salt "proved" that he had money, they settled the handover on Signal, with Quote ghosting Salt multiple times during the process.[2] Neither party has disclosed the sum Salt paid for the sites. Salt has stated that he does not know who Quote is in real life, only confirming that he is a "depressed faggot neet".
Initially, Salt only got the Sharty since he stated he had no interest in owning the Soybooru and Wiki, causing much drama, meaning that the other websites would be under ownership limbo, eventually he would change his stance and also take the 'ru and 'ki under his ownership. This was met with much confusion, as it was done with no announcement and contradicted Quote's previous claims that he planned to JSID whenever he was done. Complications from the handover resulted in the 2026 outage, resulting in a temporary migration wave to the Swinny and the 'ki galleries after June 8th being completely raped due to a disk failure. During this time, it was revealed that Cobblestone, Warrior-Z, and Broot had been covert administrators.

Hacked theory

Main article: 2026 Hack
Limeade attempted to do a Q&A on /soy/[6], although the Q&A was quickly removed due to the namefagging rule and ban evasion (geeeeeg), he stated that what actually happened was a combination of Quote getting doxed and someone hacking into the sharty's servers via a wiki exploit, meaning that the "disk failure" narrative was just a coverup (or technically true since the hacker just raped the disk). Apparently all this caused Quote to have enough and he just handed ownership over to Salt who is apparently a friend of Quote. There is evidence contrary to Limeade's claims. A Shiwi user would later post evidence supporting this theory.[it just is, ok?]
Notes
- ↑ According to leaks from Mist, the arrangement might have occurred sometime around in late June or late July 2026. Also according to the leaks from Limeade, Quote had grown tired of owning the sites as early as February 2026.
- ↑ 2.0 2.1 According to both leaks from Mist and Limeade, this is true.
- ↑ While it is unknown as to why, the 2026 hack did cause Quote to want to rid himself of owning the sites as fast as possible.
