  • March 12 - Bartolomeu Dias's crew become the first Europeans to step foot in the Cape of Good Hope, anchoring at the Boesmans River in what is, today, the city of Kwaaihoek. Dias's discoveries during this journey end up helping Vasco da Gama establish a sea route between Europe and India. The sailors build the Padrão de São Gregório, to celebrate feast day for Saint Gregory, on which day the landing took place.
  • March 14 - Hadım Ali Pasha recaptures Adana and Tarsus from the Mamluk Sultanate.
  • March 19 - Johannes Magnus, the last Catholic Archbishop of Sweden, is born.
  • March 21 - Treaty of Valencia is signed between the Kingdom of Navarre and the Catholic Monarchy of Aragon and Castille.

  • May 1 - Sidonie of Bavaria, the eldest daughter of Duke Albrecht IV of Bavaria-Munich, is born.
  • May 5 - Lê Uy Mục, 8th king of the Lê Dynasty, is born.
  • May 7 - John III of the Palatinate, the 48th Archbishop of Regensburg, is born.
  • May 9 - Frederick I Liegnitz, Duke of Chojnów and Strzelin, dies.
  • May 26 - Iizasa Ienao, a Japanese swordsman, dies.

  • June 6 - Bishop of Viborg Canute Cobson is killed by Chud raiders for his large fortune of gems.
  • June 11 - King James III of Scotland is killed by his son James, Duke of Rothesay, in the Battle of Sauchieburn. The Duke of Rothesay then ascends the throne, becoming King James IV of Scotland.
  • June 29 - Pedro Pacheco de Villena, a Spanish cardinal and viceroy of Naples, is born.

  • July 12 - Choe Bu returns to Korea. General Louis de la Trémoille sieges Fougères in Brittany.
  • July 15 - Juan Álvarez de Toledo, a Spanish cardinal and bishop of Córdoba, Burgos, Albana, and Frascati, is born.
  • July 18 - Alvise Cadamosto, a Venetian explorer, dies.
  • July 19 - Siege of Fougères ends, with the city being captured.
  • July 28 - The so-called Mad War (French: la Guerre folle), a war fought between feudal lords and the French monarchy, is brought to an end in the Battle of Saint-Aubin-du-Cormier, led by troops of the Duke of Orleans and Brittany. Edward Woodville, Lord Scales, is among the individuals to die in this battle.
  • July 30 - Clarice Orsini, the wife of the de facto ruler of the Venetian Republic Lorenzo de' Medici, dies.

  • August 17 - The Mamluk Sultanate defeats the Ottoman Empire in the Battle of Ağaçayırı.
  • August 20 - The Treaty of Sablé is signed by Francois, Duke of Brittany, and King Charles VIII, ending the Mad War.

  • September 9 - Francis II, Duke of Brittany, dies by falling from a horse. Anne of Brittany becomes the Duchess of Brittany at the age of 11.
  • September 13 - Charles II, Duke of Bourbon, dies.

  • November 1 - Johannes Crabbe, a Flemish imperial counselor and bibliophile, dies.
  • November 18 - In the Squire Francis War, a new phase of the Hooke and Cod wars in the Netherlands, the Hook faction, led by Frans van Brederode, captures the capital city, Rotterdam.
