The VisualEditor is what ALL nueditors love to use, either because source editing is too hard to learn, or because they're ARYAN.(Tag: visual edit) The VisualEditor's shortcuts and easy preview of the article make it extremely useful for quick, simple edits that don't concern themselves with Templates.

The VisualEditor is convenient for templates like {{templatewrapper}} or {{Infobox Person}} (and other infoboxes in general) since people often break the WikiText with these templates, and it's much faster done with the visualeditor compared to source editing these templates.

There are two types of visual edits:

(Tag: visual edit)

The normal one, usually found in a nusoiARYAN's profile, obviously.

(Tag: visual edit: switched)

Indicates that the editor switched to the normal wiki editor. If you see this tag, it's probably an expert or an amateur editor misclicking.

2017 wikitext editor

[edit | edit source]

The 2017 wikitext editor was introduced to bridge the gap between traditional source editing and the VisualEditor. Rather than being a completely separate environment, it is technically a mode built within the VisualEditor extension.

It provides the same modernized toolbar and interface as the VisualEditor, but allows users to directly view and edit the raw wikitext. This makes it highly beneficial for experienced editors who prefer working with source code but still want the convenience of modern interface tools. Key features include:

  • Keybindings🗝️
  • Unified toolbar
  • Easier Insertions
  • Syntax Highlighting
  • Seamless Switching

Edits made using this tool are typically tracked in page histories with a (2017 source edit) tag, distinguishing them from both classic source edits and standard visual edits.

To enable it, go to Preferences, then click on "Editing", and check the "Use the wikitext mode inside the visual editor, instead of a different wikitext editor" option.
