Fedposting
Fedposting is the action of soliciting, inciting or otherwise calling for others to commit or aid and abet the act of committing serious crimes, at least in regards to US and Western laws. Fedposters often claim to be engaged in said behaviour themselves. This behaviour, within the Sharty is most common on /raid/ followed by /soy/ and usually accompanies any thread that could be considered a raid that gains a considerable amount of traction. This behaviour is and was commonly observed on 4cuck’s /pol/, /k/ and /b/ boards as well. When done by law enforcement or other government agents this is to incriminate and (usually) prosecute someone.
Etymology and History[edit | edit source]
The practice of luring would-be criminals into admitting they intend on committing a crime or otherwise give themselves away is immeasurably old and has been a core tenet of IRL policing since time immemorial.
With the advent of the internet, this practice followed. It’s not uncommon for federal agencies (or simply national if you aren’t American) to send out honeypots in spaces where criminals online are usually around. Some have called these posts “Fedposts” because “Fed” as in someone who works for a Federal LEA + “-post”.
It is worth noting that actual fedposts are usually played with tact and are very targetted, the literal who on /raid/ calling for the proud tranny pedophile you’re doxxing to be Swatted is much more likely to just be a retard than someone working at the NSA.
Types of Fedposters[edit | edit source]
- Actual Glowies - This is probably the most rare and you’re unlikely to see it unless you’re in the shortlist telegram group of an Al Qaeda cell
- Local and State Police - More common on public and private spaces for local politics (e.g. the subreddit of an ANTIFA chapter).
- LARPers - People who have watched a lot of edits on ‘tok who have half convinced themselves into thinking they are LITERALLY the next mcveigh. These people won’t actually do anything, though.
- Fishermen - Bait posters who get a kick out of a few irate teens (usually those predisposed to falling for bait) soyquoting them with images of green-glowing jaks.
- People who are actually serious about it - Self explanatory, thoughever having serious intent to do something does not necessarily mean it will cause death/damage (or atleast the intended amount)
- Attentionwhores - usually braniggers who migrated from Xitter and were used to posting on that platform about their based and redpilled opinions and the based and redpilled things they wanted to do.
- Retards who just say shit - Sometimes, there are people who don’t fall into any of these categories for one reason or another. Their Fedposts are just made on an impulse and there isn’t much else to it.
If you see a Fedpost[edit | edit source]
What TO do[edit | edit source]
If you’re the holder of a thread password - Report first and then use said password to delete it
If the former is not the case - Report the thread or reply for Rule 8.
If you’re a janny - get off your ass and do your fucking job
What NOT TO do[edit | edit source]
Bump the thread to the very top of the board with a reply - This does not go for fedpost replies to non fedpost threads
Caveat[edit | edit source]
Soyquoting the post is quite funny when done right but be mindful of avoiding wasting thread capacity if the thread isn’t a fedpost or bumping the thread if it is.
