A large-scale operation, also called a grand operation, epic operation, or major operation, is a raid of considerable scope generally characterized by high participation, major consequences, and a relatively long timeline. Making a large-scale operation a winraid takes effort, and most attempts are failraids or neutralraids.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Large-scale operations usually take place over a significant period of time, at least a month. Successful ones have high participation and extensive consequences on the wider internet. Said consequences are usually known to people outside the Soysphere. They are also heavily documented on this very wiki, with their articles being considered works of classical literature among soyteens. All successful large-scale operations go down as defining moments in soystory. There has never been more than one large-scale operation going on at the same time.
Characteristics of failed attempts[edit | edit source]
Attempts at large-scale operations that end up being neutralraids or failraids usually try to begin at the wrong time, either when morale is low or when a previous large-scale operation just ended. They are also often copycats of successful large-scale operations. For example, Operation 'za Month tried to copy Operation 9/11, and Operations Destroy Degenerates December and 404 and the Homocaust tried to copy Operation No Nut November. Some also have goals that are not realistic. They mostly fizzle out within a week or two, but sometimes desperate 'teens try to drag them out for longer.
How to create a successful large-scale operation[edit | edit source]
- Timing is everything. Don't try to start one right after another one finished. Also, try to do them when morale among soyteens is generally high.
- Clearly define the scope and make it realistic.
- Make it something that a lot of people would want to participate in.
- Have a definite end. Otherwise, it's just a long-term operation.
- Make it original. Copycat operations are doomed to fail.
