Hearts of Iron IV

Read all revisions to find a solution to your most perplexing quandary.

Hearts of Iron IV, also known as HOI4, is a A24 kino grand strategy game played by autists. It takes place during WW2 and allows you to play various countries, including the Third Reich; furthermore the Holocaust is never mentioned in the base game.( because it never happened) This game has a reputation for being played by both chuds and trannies, a quite unusual phenomenon, but understandable as both of those groups are mostly composed of autists.
Paradox Interactive, the publisher of HOI4, despite being from Sweden, is run without a doubt by jews, who charge you $20+ for DLCs that add underdeveloped content that doesn't even work. If you really want to get the DLCs, just don't be a retard and remember to pirate them instead of wasting your money.
Gameplay
[edit | edit source]The game itself consists of strategic(duhhhhh) management of your land, navy & air forces, aswell as your civillian & millitary industry, logists & supply and so on.
Due to the sheer amount of things to manage[a] it becomes really confusing to new players, making them either completely not understand certain features or just simply not realize that they even exist, like supply which stays relatively hidden until you get a notification that tells you your supply is fu.ck.ed by many.
Although overall, as long as you take your time and play a bit more slowly, you should eventually get the hang of the base game. The learning process is relatively fun.
New players should avoid naval entirely as its fucking retarded and makes no sense. Even players with thousands of hours into the game don't know the first thing about naval. That's how retarded it is.
DLC
[edit | edit source]With how the game fucking shoves it down your throat from the second you boot up the game, you probably already know about the large amount of DLC available for Hearts of Iron 4. Thankfully you can just pirate it pretty easily (ev&doe you've probably already pirated the main game aswell kek).
It is not recommended to play with all DLC's as a new player, since its just additional shit to manage.
Mods
[edit | edit source]
HOI4 Mods vary from simple cosmetic changes such as additional music, to full-on total-overhauls of the game and its content. Obviously some mods are worse and some better, with the majority of them being not worth your time.
As shiny as mods may be, it is not recommended to touch them until you get the hang of atleast the base (non-DLC) game.
Here is a list of all the most relevant ones:
- TNO (The New Order: Last Days of Europe): A formerly gemmy mod where Germany won WW2, but lately it was hijacked by troons who changed it so that nothing ever happens. 'teens tried to dox its troon developers, and even though some info was dug up, it ultimately was dnb. It was one of the most revolutionary mods of whole hoi4, such as making UI overhauls, superevents, and expansive narrative-based focus trees popular.
- TNO: Requiem: The REAL TNO successor. It began as a mod that completes the 80s content for Russia (including war with Germany), but is now a complete fork of TNO.
- TNO: Rides Again: A Kiwi Farms fork of pre-Toolbox Theory TNO that restores stuff like Atlantropa and adds more content to some countries, but also is based on an old version of TNO that lacks Guangdong (cut out one of the best countries in TNO award).
- TFR (The Fire Rises): A mediocre mod where America explodes and chuds, leftists, glowies, Biden and Trump rise up, surely more fun than TNO, but still retarded to a certain extent. Also Jews can take total control in Europe, with Klaus Schwab coming to power and establishing the world government, where people eat the bugs and then rebel. It was made by Braniggers but at least it's
the gemmiest mod of todaydecent but overrated. - Road to 56: A notable mod known for adding extra focuses to countries, stereotypically associated with users who can't afford DLC.
- Kaiserreich: A mediocre overpolished mod where Germany wins WW1, the devs still write the mod like vanilla hoi4 slop thoughbeit. Started out as a hoi2 mod.
- Kaiserredux: A vantapurple version of Kaiserredux that has more SQVL, but it's also full of actual slop Reddit-tier content that exists for the sake of sounding schizophrenic or edgy[ev&oe the mod hasn't been developed like that for half a decade now]
- Equestria at War: A mod that takes place in the world of My Little Pony. It has many countries, species and continents as well as lots of content to play around with and is very story-based.
- TWR (Thousand Week Reich): TNO, but somehow even more boring and poorly written
- Red Flood: A good mod known for it's schizophrenic leaders and its art-deco and avant-garde aesthetics. Formerly from the perspective of someone from the Kaiserreich universe wondering if WW1 was a stalemate, now's it's in it's own independent timeline.
- Old World Blues: A mod centred around the Fallout universe where the anarchic-DNB lands of ameriKKKa can become hecking wholesome and gender affirming, wowzers!
- Cold War Iron Curtain: A World Divided: TNO but the troonery was exchanged for x10 longer content where literally nothing ever happens during it and it's twice as slow.
- Pax Brittanica: A mod where the US lost the revolutionary war and Britain (and Russia I guess) is the global super powerIt also features a steampunk world because Tesla did funny stuff and you can commit mass-warcrimes and body horror.
- Red World: A mod where the Soviet Union won the cold war, original creator died of cancer so the mod has been split between various splinters.
- Millennium Dawn: An abhorent modern-day mod where the U.I is vastly overcomplicated, the factions are unbalanced, there's a million minigame gimmicks and nothing ever happens. Can be barely be called a game at this point.
- Novum Vexillum: Another modern-day mod but with less bloat.
- North America Divided: A mod where America (and Canada and Mexico) all got balkanised and you've got to fight to reunite them. There are custom focus-trees for a lot of states but the mod is heavily sandbox focused.
- Collapsing World: Rise of Radicalism: A mod where WW1 raped everybody so everybody became a schizophrenic. The Satanist path for Britain was written by some woman who was leaking about her fetishes and one of the main developer's is a muslim who makes anti-LGBT sigma edits.
- Führerreich (formerly Führerredux): What if Germany lost WW1 from the perspective of people in the Kaiserreich universe.
- 1984 - Revolution: Literally 1984.
- Sheep's Mod: Gemmy but almost dead mod that makes the vanilla game MUCH MUCH MUCH harder, by making the AI a smart giga that uses meta divisions among other things. Not very compatible with other mods
- Soyjak Party: Gemmy mod that replaces some countries' leaders and other gfx with soyjaks and sharty's admins.
- Tranime mods: Not a single mod, but a genre of mods where leader portraits are replaced with tranime girls, these portraits are not the original leaders put in an anime style, but rather they literally are replaced with anime girls for no reason, often involves goonbait brimstone.
- Chinese translation mods: Mods that translate other mods into the Mandarin language, quite common for any notable mod.
- Goywaffen Experience/Upon The Missouri: Two SNCA larpercore
mods developed by some failtrolls trying their hardest to be as edgy as possible. Said failtrolls are notorious in the HOI4 community for raiding famous 'cord servers, posting DNB. Some jewtuber made a video showing that one of the main devs of the mod had posted actual 'P on their 'cord and that they mocked Junko Furuta. Recently, both mods have been banned from Steam Workshop.
Countries
[edit | edit source]
With HOI4 being set in 1936+, you are left with only the countries that people actually care fan about, since most third-world ESL shitholes at this time were part of some random empires colonies, farming cotton and DNB's.
Keep in mind that a large portion of countries (even in europe), especially if you only have the base game, simply do not have a custom focus tree, meaning you'll be having a more bland experience.
The one you're supposed to play as.
Starts you off with hitluh in charge and a decent amount of stability, industry & good focuses, although with a relatively small army (20~30) divisions, meaning that you'll get your shit kicked in by poland & france if you don't deploy any units/buff your existing ones.[b]
There are 3 main focus tree options, those being "Remilitarise the Rhineland", which keeps you with Hitler, "Rally the Wehrmacht" which makes you cummunist or "Oppose Hitler", which you fukkin guessed it opposes Hitler and takes you either on a path of gaymocracy or Non-Aligned (in this scenario: Monarchy), where you can later return to facism except this time as a strasserist meaning you're traiso inclusive
You also start off with a shitty mechanic called "MEFO Bills", which ramp up your consumer goods requirement to infinity and beyond until you eventually have zero civillian factories available and cant fucking build anything.
Most new players pussy out by choosing the "Prioritize Economic Growth" branch, which braps on your economy temporarily by forcing you onto Civillian Economy[c] in exchange for getting rid of the aformentioned MEFO Bills.
By choosing the "Four-Year Plan" branch instead, you effectively embrace the MEFO Bills until you can delete them very late in the game by having a fuck ton of resources[d]. For the duration that you can't get rid of them, you are able to choose from a variety of options which let you push back the consumer goods by increments of around 5~25%. The first of these are "free" options which let you lose a few percent by a click of a button, while later you have to conquer countries and raid their gold instead.
You get pinned down by 2 BBC's in 1939 which makes it one of the hardest countries in the game to play as. You can partially mitigate this by bowing down to one of the aformentioned BBC's, though you will eventually want to backstab your BVLL after killing the other. Don't get to attached to them.
If you however are an aryan and decide to stay historical, you're basically forced to retreat & bunker down on the vistula with a fuck ton of forts and cheap divisions until you have a niggerillion of them and can just push into berlin.
You also get a Peasant Revolt that can start a civil war in 1937 & rape your country. This can simply be bypassed by going through 3 focuses that don't lock you into any ideology whatsoever. SNCA time waster.
Also you can do some retarded focus where you accept defeat and get some offmap factories or whatever as an exile government. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRINNNNNNGGGGG.
Relations to the soysphere
[edit | edit source]Kuz seemed to know HOI4 and once made a post on his 'gram hoping for a hoi4 mod set in the 2020s.
During the Soyvil War 4, a HOI4 roleplay thread based around the conflict was briefly made on /soy/, receiving more than 200 replies and being stickied for half an hour. [1]
Notes
- ↑ Especially if you play with DLC's
- ↑ You'd obviously have to be really retarded to do this, but you get my point
- ↑ Aldoe you can just go back to Partial Mobilization immediately if you have 150 Political Power
- ↑ One of the requirements is having 800 steel, while Germany starts of with barely 200 or so.
