Splinter
A splinter is an imageboard that’s meant not to fulfill an entirely new niche in the already-oversaturated IB market, but instead one that's meant for users of an already established imageboard (e.g. 4cuck, 8chan, and now the sharty) that is either believed to have become shittier, or is unable to be posted on anymore due to the "death" of the website (i.e. shut down).
The difference between a splinter and a bunker is that bunkers are meant to be temporary homes, while splinters usually attempt to stick around for longer, alTHOUGH this distinction isn’t always maintained very well.
Keep in mind that in cases in which former users of a once-popular imageboards decide to migrate to another relatively popular imageboard (such as when former /r9k/ posters returned to the ‘cuck after m00t re-opened the board), the site in question they migrate to is never really referred to as a splinter.
To the surprise of absolutely nobody, most Sharty splinters are just glorified discord servers without the real time chat. Many Sharty splintercucks are obsessed with the Sharty o algo, and vice versa.
During Limeade's time as admin, most splinters weren't allowed to be mentioned on this very wiki. After his 'nishment, this was lifted for all non-pedophilic splinters.

[edit | edit source]There exist some sites that present themselves as splinters but are actually screamers, such as Gapejak.party and Jak.soy. Joyjak.party was conceptualized by some xitter tranny as a Joyjak-themed splinter, but some keyed 'teen bought the domain name before xhey could and made the site a picture of a Troonjak.
There are also some sites that present themselves as splinters but are actually 'P sites. These include (formerly) the Chinny and the █████. Mentioning this 'p site on /soy/ WILL GET YOU AUTOMATICALLY BANNED, DUE TO THE WORDFILTER. The chaily was formerly documented on this very wiki, but all mentions of it would be expunged, even from the deletion logs. This was still the case even after Delimification. Post-2026 Soypocalypse the chaily page is now back up after Salt unbanned it, mainly because CSAM is no longer spammed on the chaily, but it still remains somewhat pedophilic (and largely edgy) in nature.
Crossposting

On the Soysphere, crossposting refers to a term where you post the same thread of yours in different splinters. It can also mean posting different threads across splinters.
Nophono does this anymore, it's kind of boring as you can basically post on all non-hostile splinters in seconds.
Splintered Age
[edit | edit source]During The Splintered Age, crossposting was very popular across the soyjak bunkers, and the main sites for crossposting usually were like this:

And a whole bunch of other splinters during the Soypocalypse, but there weren't much at the time, unlike now.
Reception

During the Froot and Quote administrations, especially when Limeade was an admin, Soyteens were propagandized against any and all splinters. This included harmless splinters like the Sidty whose only real crimes were being zero PPD DNBs (though it should be noted that even splinters that don't inherently have any ill intentions can suffer from 'P spam due to a lack of moderation).
Salt seems to be less anti-splinter than his predecessors. Splinters like the Chinny are allowed to be documented on the 'ki, and links to harmless splinters seem to be allowed on the main site. Even so, since the majority of splinters suffer from a severe lack of users and only have a few dozen posts per day, they are almost all considered dust.
