Futaba Channel (Japanese: ふたば☆ちゃんねる), or simply Futaba or 2chan is a Japanese-language imageboard site created in 2001.

It was the first site of its kind to feature thread-based discussion, and would later go on to inspire the creation of many other famous imageboards, including 4chan, and consequently soyjak.party.

Boards

Futaba features roughly 60 imageboards, and 40 textboards.

Two boards on different subdomains, 'img' and 'may', both entitled /b/ - 二次元裏 (lit. '2D Alt') receive a disproportionate number of posts per hour (PPH) compared to other boards - about 14,000 each. They are equivalent to 4chan's /b/ - Random board, and cover the vast majority of the site's traffic.

Futaba is an excellent target for raiding/trolling as its userbase is comprised mainly of netto-uyoku (ネット右翼, lit. 'internet rightists'), the yellow-skinned equivalent of chuds.

Due to abuse, only Japanese IP addresses are allowed to post on Futaba Channel. As such, you will need a Japanese VPN if you wish to gem it up.

Moderation

The administrator(s) of Futaba are anonymous and nameless. Futaba users affectionally call them "Kunlinin-san".

There is no reporting mechanism on Futaba. Instead, moderation is delegated to users, who may vote to delete threads or replies by clicking the 'del' button. If many users elect a thread for deletion, it will be moved to 'isolation', where it is only accesible by URL, and does not appear on the board index. Eventually, a thread or reply will be deleted entirely if enough votes are received(should be added here(KEEEEEEEEEK NUSOIS))
