Instagram is a social networking platform focused on sharing media in the form of images and videos with fellow goyim. It opened in 2010 and was bought by Facebook in 2012. It was originally just a normie image sharing app until a short-form video feature, Reels, was opened in 2020 as a blatant TikTok clone. The Zuck loosened some of Reels' rulecuckery in 2023 not long after Elon bought Xitter, this combined with GIF comments has led Reels to become a chudded competitor to TikTok over the past 2+ years.

In late 2025, Instagram loosened GIF restrictions to include Giphy Creator accounts, which are far easier to obtain than the Verified Artist accounts that were required to make public Instagram GIFs previously (you needed to link your personal artist/brand website for one of those accounts). Beginnings of Instagram shitposting

Once Instagram settled into it's position as the world's most powerful piece of spyware, the site maintained strict rules and prevented anything funny from ever being posted . This did not stop some of the more clever autistic 'channers from making accounts that abused the system (primarily by making their accounts look like user accounts, not memepage accounts). While almost all of them were lost to time, they definitely served as a base for the next wave of meme pages that started entering the "niche" maymay community circa 2019-2020. At this time, if you were a soiposter, or just a 4cuck user in general, you would have access to a plethora of accounts that posted safe-edgy (keep in mind: the reddit culture was still going strong, and anything even remotely "edgy" will get your ass perma'd) memes that were at least good enough, since there really was no alternative, unless you were willing to dig deep and find alternative sites.

How one could spot an "edgy" meme page in this era:

• Using a full (fake) name as the username, with profile pictures of memes that were popular in the community back in the day: pol pot, gigachud, aspie etc. These accounts had a significant amount of posts and were private. They were able to last a significant amount of time (like a year or so)
• Using the same strategy as the abovementioned one, but writing captions in a different language to "fool" the system
• Using obscure references to edgier stuff: never really caught on in this era, but did afterwards
• Using the fast-burn strategy: being able to find one of these was the equivalent to finding an OC gem on modern /soy/. Generally, these accounts featured bizzare names and straight up bannable posts that could make you lose your job. These accounts would be given dumbass names like "trollwaffen", but also names you would think were autofiltered, like "hairyniggaballs", reflecting the fact that all oldfags are bbc sluts and pedos
• Having versions: Particularly important for the fast-burn accounts, but also used for all other types. Since you couldn't expect your memepage to survive for long, you would create a gorillion alts, all named exactly the same, but with v2, v3 etc. at the end. This was like a war trophy of some sorts, the higher your version the cooler you were. (some retards would manage to reach v25)

Modern Instagram

Reels, as we know them today, started out as a failed copy of the retardation chamber known as "TikTok short-form content". While the normalGOD hordes are not of any interest to us, it is important to know that the hateful radicalized zoomer incel chuds also used TikTok to make their evil propaganda (also known as psyops). In particular, "Hyperborea" was a psyop orchestrated by the agencies to study some shit about extremism idk and it just happened to coincide with the explosion of chudcel content on TikTok at the time. Weird coincidence, but theres no reason to go deeper into this topic. At around the same time as when Musk aquired Twitter, and allowed all chuds to say the nigger word, Instagram abruptly loosened their rules on edgier content, creating the modern Reels that we all know and love. These started out as mostly car crashes and straight up footage of people dying spreading throughout reels and then slowly progressed into actual gems. The early instagram gems included:

• 9/11 edits
• George Floyd creepypastas
• Nigger Earrape and Nigger Remixes
• Random shit that features the burger king guy, King Terry, Ronnie McNutt, Saint Elliot and others whose names could get you banned on the site before this

Instagram's "golden age" peaked with the death of some nigger called Twomad (who might or might not be behind modern irony as a whole), when for a whole week, entirety of Instagram Reels was just people making Twomad memes with remixes of the word "Nigger" in the background.

Contrary to popular belief, there is NO Sharty diaspora on der 'gram. It's not uncommon to just see goonerbait Reels themselves, commieniggerpedo political bullshittery and just politics in general. All of these are able to eventually lead retards to Soyjaks, because opposing communities here engage in frequent pointless shit-throwing wars and as these go on longer, the chances of a Soyjak being posted grow exponentially.
