NYPA”Not Your Personal Army” (NYPA) is a phrase originating from 7chan’s /i/ - Invasions board sometime 2007 as some people would see the board’s widespread success in raiding and seek to recruit raiders to help them raid targets for causes no one else cared about (e.g. personal drama, trying to get back at their e-girlfriend or a forum they got banned from) hence a “Personal Army”.

After initially cropping up on 7chan, saying spread to basically every other space on the internet where someone would call for a raid, chiefly 4chan’s /b/. It proved rather effective in shutting up retards taking up space trying to incite raids against literal whos which was surprisingly common, even on the more normie side of the internet.
However, after a point, the saying lost its meaning in places and would be spammed in response to basically any call for a raid, including those which didn’t count as SNCA and had gemmy potential, often times killing the raid before it went anywhere. The phrase alone isn’t entirely at fault for this, of course, and is more so a symptom of imageboards getting progressively more cucked and corporate.
The phrase has become generally redundant as everywhere it was commonly used, even 7chan[dead site] is strictly anti-raid as a whole and there is little to no discussion of the matter altogether anymore. The usage of the saying more or less corresponds with the gradual decline of non-Soysphere raid culture as a whole.
On the Sharty[edit | edit source]
The phrase NYPA, as it had become very attached to “4chan culture” entered the Sharty itself doebeit this time as the Sharty is rather raid friendly and “Personal Army” which originated from the phrase NYPA has become a staple term within Sharty raid culture. On the other hand, “nypa faggot” is rarely ever posted on /raid/ or /soy/ unless it’s an attempt at bait as bad raid threads will just be ignored and/or deleted. Thus, the old phrase does have a lasting legacy on contemporary Sharty/Soy culture.
