History[edit | edit source]
In its early days, Steam was initially a software client launched by Valve in September 2003 to automatically deliver updates for Valve's games, like Counter Strike 1.6, and to manage online game patching and cheating.
Somewhere around 2005, Steam started shifting its priorities Not to fix itself, mind you. into becoming a proper store for games. Valve still took 30% of every sale at the time third party publishers appeared btw. In 2008, Steamworks released. A set of tools for third-party developers, it offered DRM services, matchmaking and other SNCA.
Between 2009-2011, Steam had become a very popular platform where you could buy anything. Notable additions were achievements, Steam Cloud, a feature where players could sync their goyme progress onto other devices, and profiles. Oh and it also added Linux support if that matters. Seasonal sales were introduced alongside the Steam Workshop - a platform within the Steam client that hosts and distributes user-created content, such as mods, custom levels and items for games.
In 2012, Valve introduced Steam Greenlight, a feature where users could vote for games to get added to the store. Same feature lead to coaly games plaguing the market, eventually getting replaced with Steam Direct in 2017. Nothing notable was released in this era.
During 2013-2015, Valve began focusing on making Steam a larger platform, with the introduction of Trading Cards, Linux support, Family Sharing and Early Access builds. They also began accepting player reviews regarding games🗝️, said reviews were used to recommend games to users based on what they like and dislike. They released SteamOS - an operating system designed primarily as a client for streaming games over a local network, they were announced with the Steam Machine, too. Valve began working on Steam Link and the Steam Controller. Films were added to the marketplace.
2018 marked the golden age of Steam, with the flood of troonslop being its primary money-maker. They also remade the entire UI from scratch, it looked way better compared to the shitty Half-Life 1 UI back then. They added more features to Steamworks such as microtransactions. They improved the algorithms for game discovery, with the discovery queue, better personalized recommendations and curated lists. They improved the workshop alongside adding optimizations and stability to their clients. They also introduced Proton - a compatibility layer for Linux that helped with running games designed for Windows on Linux. They also improved controller support.
2022 marked the release of the Steam Deck, a handheld made by Valve which ran on Linux, letting players play games on the go. Steam optimized controller support and big picture mode for the deck, improving navigation, overlays, and gamepad functionality. It also inspired other companies to try making their own handhelds, with enthusiasts developing plugins, proton forks, and community-made tweaks to get non-steam games running better.
As of this year, Steam is the biggest online game store for everyone, hosting a whopping THREMBILLION games.

Creator[edit | edit source]
Gabe Newell, also known as GabeN, is the CEO of Valve and creator of Steam. Xe is possibly (((jewish))), too. Gabe is from the US, so he's a certified Amerimutt. He attended Harvard University, but dropped out to join Microsoft, helping create the first Windows version, afterwards leaving in 1996, and creating Half-Life. He led the development of Steam. Xis net worth is about 11 billion shekels as of this year.
The Steamdrone[edit | edit source]
The Steamdrone, also known as the Valvedrone, Steamnigger, or Steampedo, is a unique species of PC "gamer" that spends all their time online glazing Valve over SNCA instead of actually playing videogames. Most Steamdrones you meet are actually consolefags that migrated from whatever shitbox they played vidya on before, typically Nintendo or PlayStation. They are usually braniggers from xitter, but also sometimes trannies from preddit and der 'cord. Sometimes even both!
Ways to Troll the Steamdrone[edit | edit source]

- Say the Switch 1 is better than a Steam Deck
- Say the Wii U is better than a Steam Deck

- Call them broke if they can't afford a PS5 Pro
- Blame Trump's tarrifs for the PS5 price increase or something

- Say Halo is better than Half-Life (good for pissing off oldfags)
- Say GoldenEye is better than Half-Life
- Say The Last of Us: Part 2 is better than Half-Life
- Say Call of Duty is better than Half-Life
- Say Fortnite is better than Half-Life
- Say Skyrim is better than Half-Life
- Say that Bethesda should make Half-Life 3

- Call him fat
- Call him "Gaybe Jewell" or "Gayben"

- Call Valve woke because they had games with brown people in them
- Tell them that Valve employees have donated thousands of dollars to the Democratic party[4], and that most people working at Valve support wokeness in videogames
- Ask them why it took Valve, a billion-dollar company, 8 years to stop a bunch of Turkish and Russian child groomers from hosting bots on TF2
- Bring up Zesty Jesus
- Remind them that Valve was the first company to adopt the free-to-play model (they will actually defend this)
- Call CS2 cases gambling
- Say Fortnite skins are better than CS2 skins

- Ask them if they are Russian
- Ask them how often they use Xitter/Reddit/Discord

- Say the Epic Games Store is better than Steam
- Say the App Store is better than Steam
- Drop the following TRVKE: Valve is a multi-billion dollar company and does not care about you. They only care about your money.
