Gemmy Cobson[1] refers to a newfound baiting trend, and a generally anti-newGOD trend on SoyBooru.[2][3] It is commonly paired with excessive usage of Soyspeak (often paired with DIS EPI'd ME, fuggen 'p, o algo and HTSM), usually to mock Twitter immigrants, and more recently TikTok immigrants.[3][4]
The origin of the trend is unknown, but it can be assumed that tranime spammers on /soy/ accelerated it with anime threads captioned with Cobson. It could also be a reference to Wojak Land, a normgroid website where it calls any soyjak "Cobson" and has originated other Sharty memes before like Mcdonalds Typing Cobson.[5]
The oldest post on SoyBooru with "Gemmy Cobson" dates back to April of 2026.[6]
The trend involves posting NAS (such as anime, UTTP officers, 764, O9A, etc.)[3] or outright rulebreaking posts (such as DNB) while giving it the title of "gemmy cobsons" or "cobsons" to bait a newGOD. It's also associated with nuvariants.[3]
