Sun
The Sun, also known as Sol in Latin languages, is the star at the center of our Solar System. It is the source of the vast majority of energy that life uses to sustain itself on Earth.
It generally keeps the Earth's ground-level temperature between the poles at a cool, wholesome, 30-80 degrees FAHRENHEIT (-1°C - 26°C for normal people)[272.0-299.8 kelvin for scientists ], and shines for us to see a beautiful day every time we wake up. The sun is a symbol in many ancient cultures, but in the West the sun is associated with Divine Knowledge and the Glory of God upon the Kingdom of Earth, and is often used as a symbol of protection, care and righteousness. Without the Sun, you would be dead due to freezing in total darkness, so even if it annoys you, remember to thank the Sun for its blessings upon you.
In 'tosses
[edit | edit source]The Sun is most often portrayed as a Wholesome Gapejak in edits where it is a background element. However, it is usually replaced by a more aggressive 'jak, such as Cobson, Feralrage, or uncalm Longplier in edits portraying deserts, tropical areas, or otherwise hot weather.
Sometimes the Sun will even be portrayed reacting to the foreground subject in the 'toss. This makes no hecking sense because it is an inanimate object 10 trillion F-150s away from the Earth or however the cookie crumbles.
Soyence
[edit | edit source]The sun is a class-G star with a mass about 300,000 times greater than that of Earth's — while this is obviously huge on a human scale, it is actually quite small for a star and is considered to be a dwarf. It has a surface temperature of about 4000 Kelvin, and is 1 Astronomical Unit (~93 million miles) from Earth. Like most stars, it produces its energy by fusing hydrogen into helium within its core. In six gorillion years, it will eventually run out of fuel, and become a red giant that will engulf Earth and presumably kill everything that's still alive by that point (ev&oe its increased heat output will fry the Earth into coal long before it gets large enough).
The sun frequently emits intense bursts of radiation known as solar flares. These are usually deflected by the Earth's magnetic field, and causes the Aurora Borealis phenomenon near the poles. However, a sufficiently strong flare could disrupt all electronic devices on Earth🗝️, which would likely create extremely geggy gooner/troon/cord monkey seetheralds, among other things. Unfortunately, it would also likely shut down the sharty. Whether it would be worth this cost remains to be seen.
Plants and the water cycle require heat/light energy radiated from the Sun to exist. Therefore, the vast majority of animal life depends on the Sun too since the food chain begins with plants (Jordan ben Peterstein BTFO).
