The coal template already used to have two variants (one for calling the topic coal, one for calling the wiki page coal) but that was axed due to potential confusion and the Gradingcaust where Cobblestone decided that the wiki doesn't really need templates just to say whether a given topic is good or bad, both to encourage independent thought and actually writing about the subject in question instead of just saying "it's le good" or "it's le bad". Not to mention that anything obviously bad enough to be near unanimously considered coal by the soysphere would already naturally make it clear from the article itself without needing a template.

In recent soystory there's been a growing number of perspective articles made and deleted on this site. The most common variety of these is "detractor perspectives", which fully shift away from the wiki's usual goal of documenting things with independently fact checked and peer reviewed information in favor of just trashing the subject in question, deserved or otherwise. The problems with those are that they're usually just the original article with more template spam, a negative tone, and anything positive about the subject removed, which isn't helpful for the wiki's purpose and let's be honest articles like those belong on the site best known for those, Encyclopedia Dramatica. Another issue is the problem with information drift between a base article and its perspective(s), from having to edit the same information onto multiple articles every time a new thing worth updating them for happens, to say nothing of stuff being added to one page only because the editor in question only supports one perspective or because it wouldn't fit on the other perspective page.
There's also occasionally supporter perspective articles which are just the same as detractor perspectives except they're more positive than the base article with everything negative being removed or rewritten.

In this year it has been revealed that archive.today is rather sketchy. It is being investigated by the FBI, the site used its CAPTCHA to perform a DDoS attack against a blog that made the owner leak and there is evidence of the site tampering with archives.
I would not like the insertion of new archive.today links to be blocked entirely like on Wikipedo due to its ability to bypass paywalls, but instead inserting new archive.today links should result in an ignorable warning telling 'teens to use Ghostarchive or Megalodon instead. I think the Gradingcaust was a good thing for the most part, but I don't understand why the iron template was removed. I'd say at least half of the articles on the 'ki aren't coals or gems, they're basically the equivalent of a B-class article on the 'pedia. Iron was removed because it was pointless filler, since its usecase would apply to anything that isn't sufficiently gemmy or coally to have the gem or coal templates (or their more extreme reskins), and if a page has neither template then there's probably reasons why neither template is on there (or not enough reasons to have one of them in the first place). This is the same reason a lot of templates that were just oppositefagged versions of another template got axed; because the inverted versions of the original templates in question would just be entirely unremarkable and standard things.
To put it in another way; if a template isn't present on a page then it either doesn't exhibit the associated quality enough to warrant one of the few template slots being used in it, or because it doesn't meet the requirement(s) for it (nor the requirement(s) for an opposite template like gem/coal, if applicable) and thus the template wouldn't be fitting anyways.
TL;DR: The iron quality is already implied by everything that isn't marked as a gem or coal thing, so having a template for it wouldn't be telling anyone anything new or important. GauntletThrown (clittyleakage zone) 14:44, 5 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Can there be a guideline to rename booru image files before uploading them, for example "File:73883 - SoyBooru.png" to "Muscular chud minion.png"? This should make files easier to find (and possibly prevent dupe uploads); even with tags in the filename, it's usually pretty difficult to find a specific image. a faux font is a font that stylizes latin characters to mimic a foreign (non-latin) alphabet. in other words, it could stylize english text to appear as if it were written in another language (but still legible).
it would work in a similar way to the font used in the troonjak page title. could be used for anything: from headers, footers, to article text, even user badges. for example, every muslim country page has it's title written with an "pseudo-arabic" font.
i have to say, i don't know how would i implement this as a template/.css, nor if i can do this/it's going to last forever, so i'm writing this to know how would you jannies receive this, and if it's a good idea.
please note that i recognize how visually polluted (and illegible) it would look if a whole page used said font(s) + it would start a template spam war over what font fits better, and whether the font fits the country's culture. i'd recommend to add fonts that fits a whole continent/sphere (e.g. middle east countries has some arabic-looking font; slavic countries, pseudo-cyrillic; asian countries, asianesque font; etc.), but it shouldn't apply for countries whose language use the latin alphabet (doesn't apply for the americas, western europe, africa, and oceania).

if you see this article's infobox, you'll see there is a pictogram of a wholesome helicopter on its title box. I'd suggest to do the same thing with our infoboxes. Note that the icon itself should not depend on the infobox template (like what pictogram do you use for a concept in Template:Infobox concept???), instead just make a separate template or styles.css. English wikipedia does not have a guide, but the french and portuguese ones does.

I believe it should only be used on fictional websites, wars, and happenings (e.g. soyjak.gov and Pre-Soot era), and not on actual articles like Terry Davis. My guess is that it gets confused for {{Joke}} which is supposed to be used for articles that are shitposty/meant to be funny over being 100% encyclopedic but I don't think that needs a template because any sufficiently funny article will have its humor be obvious without a template anyways, and templates that need the Joke template to explain that they're humorous aren't funny enough in the first place.
