Cave Story (Doukutsu Monogatari) is a 2004 indie Metroidvania created by Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya. The game inspired Undertale. Quote likes this game (and is probably the sole reason why this page was created in the first place).

Plot

Cave Story takes place within the cave of a floating island. The island is populated by Mimiga, a race of sentient, rabbit-like furfags. A particular species of red flower that grows in the island causes the normally peaceful Mimiga to GET ENRAGED AND KILL FUCKING EVERYONE. The island also conceals an artifact called the Demon Crown, which has vast magical powers o algo. An army of robot IDF soldiers were sent to the floating island on a military expedition, seeking to harness the Demon Crown as a weapon for wars on the surface. These robots slaughtered the Mimiga indiscriminately in their search for the crown, but were defeated when the Mimiga decided to eat the red flowers as a last resort. Shortly before the game begins, Professor Booster, the Sakamoto family, and various other literal whos formed a party to research the island, but they became stranded when their medical doctor, Fuyuhiko Date, managed to acquire the Crown; he then forced the expedition to search for the red flowers, and enslaved the Mimigas to farm and harvest them.

The main character is named Quote, and he wakes up in the middle of nowhere in some literal where cave. After getting out he meets some Mimigas, particularly King, the Mimiga's angry leader, and Toroko, a child in the village. The Doctor's two henchmen kidnap Toroko thinking she's Sue, a human-turned Mimiga child. Quote then goes and saves Sue from a rabid Mimiga and Kazuma from a locked shed, before trying to burn a bunch of red flowers before Fuyuhiko can get to them. In the midst of this, Quote runs into Curly Brace, a female robot who sided with the Mimigas. Anyways, the plan to burn the flowers goes terribly due to Quote having to help old woman Jenka get her dogs back, allowing the henchmen to steal the key to the red flower warehouse and get the flowers in the meantime . Fuyuhiko then kills King and makes Balrog forcefeed Toroko a flower, forcing you to kill her.

After this, the henchmen send you to a trash dump cave called the Labyrinth, where you have to be a selfish little fuck and ignore Professor Booster after seeing him fall into a pit to get on the route to the real ending. After this, Quote and Curly fight through the cave, get Balrog to stop being evil, and attack an unknown monster, with it being revealed to be the island's heart afterhand. If you talked to Booster or forgot to grab a rope earlier, Curly drowns here. Otherwise, you can save her in the flooded cave Quote ends up in after the Core. Booster is also magically healthy if you ignored him earlier. He then meets with Kazuma, who offers to help Quote abandon everyone to their doom and escape. Saying no, Quote is then directed to finish off the Core to render the red flowers inert even post-consumption, even though that would make the island crash and kill people. Quote works with some of the previously-mentioned literal whos to make a rocket from Fuyuhiko's plantation to his tower, while using a mushroom on Curly to restore her memories in the good ending.

After another cave, Quote reaches the arrival point of the research party and Fuyuhiko's tower, fighting Misery and the Doctor himself. After Quote kills the latter, Misery tries to use Sue as a hostage to stop Quote from destroying the Core, only for the doctor's spirit to still be around and use the red flower's power to turn Misery into 'o and Sue, a child, into a furry woman, before fusing with The Core. This effort fails and Fuyuhiko and the core are destroyed, causing the island to fall. If (You) didn't do all of the previously mentioned shit for the good ending, the game ends here, with you, Kazuma, Sue, and the literal whos leaving the island as it falls. If you did, Quote and Curly go through the Sacred Grounds and kill Ballos, the man behind the Demon Crown, causing the island to stop falling. Balrog and Misery then help the robots escape a trap in Ballos's room and all of them go off to a better place to live.

You can also have sex with a Mimiga and steal Curly's panties btw, if that matters.
